I woke up the next morning and I was in my own bed in my old house.
"Jayce?" I asked sitting up.
"Jayce?" I screamed.
No one came.
"Maxie!" Carson yelled running down the hall and into my room.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"You're home now Max, you don't need to worry." He said.
"What do you mean home?" I asked.
"I'm so confused. How did we even get here?" I asked tilting myhead to the side.
"Where's Jayce?" I asked for like the twenty millionth time.
"Jayce doesn't exist anymore." Carson said.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked.
"I just saw him last night." I stated with a sure tone.
"I am so confused." I mumbled looking very clueless at the ground.
"Max, you were probably having a little night mare." Carson said slitting down next to me on my bed.
"I'm not four. " I said crossing my arms.
"I never said you were!" Carson said.
"But.. you are a little confused." He said.
"But I swear last night I was engaged to him. So how did I get here?" I asked.
Fricken A.
What the hell is going on.
"Never mind that." Carson said quickly.
"You need to get ready for school anyways." He added as he got up and left my room.
I just sat there for a little bit and thought...
Just thought..
Screw it.
I'm way too confused for this crap.
I stood up and walked to the mirror.
I was super pale and I need make-up horrendously.
I looked like a different person.. other that Maxine.
I got in a tank top and jeans.
After a "quick" change and make-up application, I grabbed a zip up sweater and walked downstairs.
At the school
I walked outside and stood in front of the house waiting for the bus.
The bus stopped. I sighed and stepped onto the large step and entered it with all of the gossiping teens paired into the leather seats.
I made my way to the back with many looks coming my way.
"Maxine!" My friend Andrea exclaimed as she moved her stuff.
"Where were you?" She asked.
"Where'd ya go?" She asked in her always squeaky voice that would make anyone laugh as soon as they heard it.
"I don't know.." I sighed rubbing my head and sitting back in the seat.
"Well you've got to get caught up on a lot of stuff now." Andrea said.
"Yeah I kinda figured.." I sighed deeply.
Ohhh yay.
The school bus stopped and after like fifteen minutes too much of hearing what couples are together and what ones are history and who's a prude and who's a slut..
I was freaking grateful.
"Come on.. I want you to meet someone." Andrea said as soon as she got stepped off of the last step.
"Okay who..?" I asked.
"Brendan!" Andrea screamed.
A guy with bleach blonde hair and bright blue eyes walked over and gave Andrea a small hug.
I got closer to Andrea.. "Perfect specimen, much?" I whispered.
"Why do you think I called him over here..?" She whispered back.
Ok.. so to put it lightly...
He looked like he stepped out of a Sports Illustrated magazine.
Perfect hair.
Perfect teeth.
Perfect everything.
"Hi.." I said smiling, trying to shush my thoughts for like ten seconds.
"Hey... my name's Brendan. You must be Maxine." He said in his manly voice.
"You guessed it." I said giving him a thumbs up.
"Well its nice to meet you but I have to get going. I have a lot to catch up on." I said waving and walking away.
What's wrong with me. I would've honestly killed to talk to someone that gorgeous before.
Its like I've been living in an effing hole.
I stepped into the school. Which looked as cliche as ever I might add, and I walked to my locker.
I opened it with no problem. I piled my stuff in there and headed for 1st period.
I looked over towards the class and I saw Brendan standing by the doorway.
"Maxine Cordin. Please report to the principal's office." The loudspeaker said.
"I almost stepped in the doorway." I said talking to myself.
"Would you like me to escort you there?" Brendan asked.
"I'm perfectly capable of walking there myself." I said with the fakest smile I could.
"No.. I insist." He said.
"It's right down the hall... you know?" I remarked.
"Oh I know." Brendan said.
"Okay fine. I guess so. But you'll be late." I said.
"That's okay." Brendan said. "I'll manage."
I started towards the office with Brendan right to my left staring at me intently.
"So I've never seen you before." I said.
"Are you new?"
"I just moved here about two weeks ago. Andrea has been a great friend though." He said.
"She is. So where did you move from?" I asked.
"Alabama." He answered.
I reached the office within like ten seconds because it was right down the hall of course.
"Well, it was nice talking to you but I think that you should get to class." I said slightly opening the office door.
"You're right. Well I'll talk to you later then?" He asked.
"Of course." I said smiling.
He walked over and kissed me on the cheek and left.
I stood there stunned for about a minute while I watched him walk away.
God Andrea. Got to pick the cute ones...
I wlaked over to the desk.
"Hello. I was called down here." I said.
The secretary sat there looking at me.
"Here's a note for you." She said sternly pushing it the edge of the desk.
"Umm thanks." I said picking it up.
I read the note silently to myself.
"Max, you have a therapist appointment after school. No complaining. Love Carson"
