The small green car turned off the highway and up a long gravel driveway, lined with oak trees. I had never been to Aunt Zoë's before so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. Probably some run down old cottage. I couldn't have been more wrong. The small car pulled up in front of a large, Victorian style mansion with a grand wrap-around porch. My mouth dropped open.
"Quaint little place isn't it?" my aunt laughed.
"Little?!" I exclaimed. Zoë jumped from the car and helped me drag my luggage onto the porch. She took out an antique key and unlocked the door. I walked onto a movie set! Everything you would imagine in a mansion was there. The double, curving, marble staircases, and the catwalk. Zoë led the way up one of the large staircases. She dropped her load outside a large red door and turned to me.
"Well, here it is! Make yourself at home," she said. She patted my head and walked away, leaving me to figure out my new room. I opened the the door and walked in. On the other side of the room was a large fireplace with a shelf. I walked over and stood on my toes, trying to to see the top. I found dust, lots of dust. But I also found a small door and a key. Thinking of "Alice in Wonderland," I stuck the key in the lock and turned it. The tiny door swung open. Inside was a small box. I picked it up. Inside the box were two antique looking keys. Both had a piece of paper attached to them. The oldest key said, "North room." I guess that was this room. The second one said, "Library." Maybe I would go find it once I unpacked. I dragged my stuff into the room and started to make myself at home.
