I bolted to the right and I dodged the creatures' reaching arms. I plunged into the woods.

I could hear my heart beating in my chest like a caged eagle trying to escape. I kept running. Then, like the dumb people in horror movies, I tripped. When I looked up, I was surrounded. I saw Igg quickly float up behind the figures. Maybe it actually would be useful. One of the figures whipped around and slashed through Igg with a small knife that he had been holding. Igg dissipated.

"NO!" I screamed before a lavender powder wafted into my face and I was asleep.

I woke up in a large birdcage. I blinked a few times before my eyes fully adjusted to the lighting. Once they did, I wasn't alone. Igg was floating near the door of the birdcage.

"IGG!" I exclaimed in relief.

"I thought you were dead!" I said as I reached it.

"Nope," it sighed dejectedly.

"Iron evaporates ghosts. Unfortunately," it mumbled.

"Otherwise, we wouldn't still be in this cage."

"Oh," I muttered and sat down. My eyes scanned the cage. I spotted the figures clustered around a small fire. I moved closer to the bars to see if I could make out what they were saying.

"What might that peculiar contraption on the door of the cage be?" one of them asked.

"It is a homosapien device by the name of "a lock." It keeps the humans out of things back in the "Earth" dimension.

I turned to look at the lock. It was a tiny pink lock that you would find on a gym locker. The kind that just suggests that you not break into whatever it is protecting. I picked a bobby pin out of my hair that had been there to attempt to keep my bangs at bay.

"What are you doing?" Igg asked and floated over to me.

"Earth magic," I mumbled. I stuck the pin in the lock and started to work my "earth magic."

In a few short minutes, the door was unlocked. The hooded figures had long gone, to do their evil-doing elsewhere. I carefully opened the door. Of course, it had to creak loudly. I cringed as the rusty door squeaked and whined. Igg and I darted out. I spotted the book sitting on a log.

"Wow!" I said.

"They are really making this easy!" I reached the book and scooped it up. As I did, the dark hooded figures emerged from the woods. We broke into a run.
