Cat Puns Can Almost Get You Killed

We stopped in a clearing and Igg put me down. "Okay, you are walking from here." It floated next to me as I stared into the woods. They weren't like the woods we had gone through before. There were tall, black trees and dark-colored vines. Slowly, my feet started to move forward.

I walked for a few hours, maybe more, and we still hadn't reached the end. The tall dark trees just went on and on.

"I think we're lost," I sighed.

"No, that can't be. We have been going in the same direction the whole time," Igg said floating in front of me. I walked through Igg. "Well that was rude!" it said, offense in its voice. I kept walking. I was tired, and my legs hurt. I wanted to arrive at The Gateway already! I didn't really care who was offended.

WHOOOO! An owl screeched and flew in front of me. I squeaked and jumped backwards. "Woah! Keep your skin on kitty cat!" Igg retorted.

"DON'T call me that." I snapped.

"Aww! Is kitty cat angry?" Igg cooed. I ignored its tauntings. "Well purrrrrfect! Now I have a grumpy travel partner," it grinned.

"Quit it!"

"You've got to be kitten me! I have so many great cat puns!" it whined.

"Stop It!" I said annoyed. I walked faster.

Igg continued to babble on about my bad attitude and cat puns until I thought I heard something up ahead. "SHHH!" I hushed. Igg floated up beside me.

"Did kitty hear something?" I ignored it and focused on the sound. The voices ceased.

"Your terrible puns probably scared them off!" I whisper-yelled at Igg. I slowly crept forward. I must have stepped into some sort of trap because before I knew what was happening, I was hanging upside down by a rope. Igg floated over the bushes.

"Looks like curiosity did kill the cat!"

"Just get me down from here!" I spat. Igg floated up to where the rope was tied.

"Eh!" it grunted and waved its hand through the rope.

"I know you can untie it!" I exclaimed. Igg slowly untied the rope and I plopped to the ground. I stood up and dusted off my jeans. When I turned around, I was faced with the same cloaked figure with the evil grin. Two more stood behind the first. "Igg..." I managed.

I heard its voice behind me,"RUN!"
