Chapter 9:

For the next two days Cole and I stay in a hotel. We end up calling a medium to come get rid of the ghost in the closet.

"Thank you for coming Madam Shirley," Cole greets the medium at our front door. We've been waiting outside it because we were to afraid to go in without her.

She smiles and nods and we enter the house. She walks around the house with her arms raised out in front of her.

We follow silently behind her. I study the little medium, she seems trustworthy but she might be just trying to con us since Cole is rich. She is short and in her mid forties, she has fiery red short hair and wears mystic looking robes.

We go upstairs and she enters the room with the haunted closet. Me and Cole slowly enter cautiously but refuse to go inside the closet.

Cole stands behind me and tentatively pushes me forward slightly, using me as a shield. I slap his hands away and glare at him.

Shirley slowly opens the closet and closes her eyes with her arms waving around,"I feel.... I feel...."

The tension is killing me, what the hell does she feel!!!

"I feel!!!" she suddenly frowns and lowers her arms,"Nothing."

I stare at her confused,"Nothing? How can you feel nothing?" I argue.

I walk into the closet with her ignoring my fears. She looks at me and shrugs. We then hear the scary noises from a few days before, I leap out of the closet and watch her go to one of the walls. She puts her ear to it then backs away and walks out of the closet toward us.

"No ghost!"

We stare at her dumbstruck,"What?" Cole asks.

She nods,"Yup, you got squirrels," she rummages around in her pockets and pulls out her phone,"Lucky for you my brothers a exterminator," she smiles and walks toward the bedroom door, she pats Cole's cheek as she walks past him,"Don't worry dearie's my brother will be here tomorrow and the big bad squirrels will be gone."

We just stand there for awhile after she's gone then I come to my senses and smack Cole's arm hard. He winces and holds his arm,"Ow! Why did you do that?"

I glare at him,"You got me all scared of a non-existing ghost," I walk away muttering,"Damn squirrels, stupid Cole."

The rest of the week goes by uneventful. Shirley's brother came and got rid of the squirrels that had apparently gotten inside the walls. I had forgiven Cole for being stupid and now I know he has a fear of ghosts, I see some great pranking opportunities to do with that information.

Sadly though I have to start college again tomorrow, I liked my break from it but now I have to make up for all the time I lost. Oh well it's not like there's a time limit for college, I can finish it whenever I want, much more lenient than high school.

I climb into bed that night to get a good nights sleep for class tomorrow. Cole joins me and wraps his arms around my waist pulling me to him.

He kisses my cheek,"Sweet dreams Lily pad," yup he gave me a lovey name.

I smile,"Night Cole."

I wake in the morning and notice Cole already left early for work. I rub my face trying to wake myself up, I turn on my side and notice a note.

'Lily pad,

Had to leave early for work, have a lot to catch up. Don't worry I'll take it easy, hope you do to. I'll see you around 8 or so tonight, love you lots.

Cole'

I smile at least he leaves notes since we don't speak much during the day. With me in class and him in meetings we don't have much time to talk to each other on the phone.

I sit up and stretch then head into the bathroom to take a shower.

After a long nice shower I pull on some skinny jeans and a purple T-shirt then grab a quick bite to eat downstairs and head out to my car.

I arrive to the college a few minutes before my first class starts so I'm able to get a seat in the back.

The teacher walks in five minutes later and the class is packed full.

"Ok class lets take out the work sheets we've been working on," Mr. Seth announces, he's a nice guy most of the time, just don't get him mad. He glances at me,"And Lily since you need to be caught up you can look off of someone and they'll explain what we're doing."

I nod and lean toward my friend Rachel. She shows me what they have been learning and I'm able to follow during class. Well kinda, there's only so much I can understand in math.

Class goes by slowly as it always does when it's math class so I'm thankful when it's over.

Only one class left, that's what I love about college. I only have two classes Mondays and three on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I have Fridays and the weekends off. At least Cole gets Sundays off and sometimes Saturdays, I do miss not being able to see him much in the week but its alright. Maybe I'll convince him to get me a dog or something.

I walk through the halls to my next class when I suddenly bump into someone. I was so preoccupied in my own thoughts that I didn't see him,"I'm so sorry," I apologize,"I wasn't paying attention......" I stop when I see his face.

"It's fine I....." he stops also.

My eyes widen,"Nick!"
