14. Arguments in Dunkin Donuts

Chapter 14:

Lily's POV:

I slowly come to feeling stiff and my legs are asleep. I try to lift my arm but can't. My eyes snap open and I see that I'm tied to a chair!

I start to struggle but I can't get free of the ropes that are around my wrists and ankles. I look around frantically and notice I'm in some type of warehouse.

Where the hell am I?!

Before I can start screaming I hear footsteps. My head looks around but it's hard to pin point the echoing footsteps.

"Hello?!" I yell,"Help!"

"No one can hear you," a male voice says.

My eyes widen, oh god please let it not be him.

My worst fears are shown when Nick steps into the light revealing himself.

"Why are you doing this?!" I scream at him.

The look on his face is hard to describe. It's not happy or sad, more like slightly crazed and love.

"I thought we were friends!" I shout.

His face turns to anger,"We were friends, but I wanted more!" he starts to pace around me then stops infront of me,"You chose HIM over me!"

"You left me!" I shout.

"Yea because I was angry and thought you were cheating on me with him!" he shouts angrily but then his face softens and he strokes my cheek that has terrified tears running down it."I then realized I love you," he says softly,"I tried to find you but your fucking friends wouldn't let me get close to you! And now your with that rich boy!" he starts to get angry again.

"I'm sorry," I whisper trying to calm him down,"I was hurt that you would dump me because you said I had family problems you didn't want to deal with. And I didn't ever cheat on you. Cole was there for me when you weren't. If you just let me go I won't tell anyone this happened, we can still be friends," I tell him trying to make him let me go.

He stares at me and takes a step back and suddenly pulls a knife from his back pocket and mutters darkly,"If I can't have you....no one can!"

Cole's POV:

I jump inside my car and drive as fast as I can to Lily's college. It was the last place she should have been, I'm just hopeing that somehow she got caught up with extra work and had to stay after for some reason.

I look frantically at the signs waiting for the exit to the college.

Finally! I turn onto the exit and continue down the road.

Suddenly I hear police sirens behind me. I turn around and sure enough there's a cop car behind me,"Fuck!" I mutter,"I don't have time for this."

I continue to speed down the road. The cop car gets close and I hear a voice from a speaker,"Stop the car, I repeat stop the car."

Dammit. I finally stop the car and fidget in my seat, the college is right down the road.

The cop slowly gets out of his car, I grit my teeth together. He makes it to my door,"You do know you were going 90 miles per hour on a 50 mile road?" the cop asks.

I look up at him,"Thank god! Officer Daniels," I say in relief.

He looks at me surprised,"Cole! Why the hell were you driving so fast?"

"Lily might be in trouble, I have to get to her college," I explain,"I have to go so can you write me a ticket some other time?"

He sighs,"Cole I know your a good kid but I can't let you get off so easily, step out of the car please."

My eyes widen,"What? No I have to..."

"Step out of the car!" he tells me sternly.

I grind my teeth and get out. He tells me to go the the back of my car and wait. I guess he thinks I might be in drugs or something. Well I do probably look pretty crazy right now.

I don't have time for this. Lily could be gone or be with Nick right now. I have to save her!

I know it's wrong but I've made up my mind. I run to the police car and jump inside.

Yes the keys are still in. I start it and quickly drive from the curve. I pass by Officer Daniels. He starts to run after me,"Hey wait! What are you..."

"I'm sorry!" I yell to him then speed off to the college.

The college finally comes into sight and I see Lily's car. I stop in the middle of the parking lot and jump out not even bother to close the door.

I run to her car and see that the car doors open. Oh no!

I look inside then look around me. I run into the college and look in almost every room, I finally come upon a teacher.

"Do you know Lily Colwells?" I ask quickly.

The old man nods,"I just had her in my class today."

"When did it end?" I question.

"Seven thirty."

"She didn't stay after or anything?"

He shakes his head,"No she left with the rest....." he stops and thinks for a second,"Actually I remember seeing her walk to her car but then she saw another student of mine and went to talk to him," he frowns,"As to why Nick wasn't in class today I do not know of," he grumbles annoyed.

I'm already out the door running back outside before he can even finish. I turn around in circles looking then I notice a particular dark area near the building wall that leads around the building. I sprint to it and my heart drops when I see Lily's keys on the ground.

I drop to my knees suddenly not able to hold my own weight anymore. Things start to go in slow motion and I barely notice what's going on around me.

I feel a tugging at my arm and glance up wordlessly to see Officer Daniels looking mad as hell. He starts yelling something but I only shake my head and hold out Lily's car keys,"She's gone!" I croak.

He stares at me then turns around quickly and sees her car with the door open. He turns back to me,"Tell me everything you know."

I nod and stand.

Twenty minutes later and we're in a Dunkin Donuts. I told him everything about Nick, how he broke up with Lily but then suddenly came back, and the new information about him being a mental patient.

"That's it," I tell him,"Now shouldn't we be at the police station or have you already contacted them?" I ask eagar to start searching for my Lily.

Daniels sighs,"No we can't go yet."

"Why the hell not?!" I shout.

He calms me down,"You have to wait at least 24 hours to report a missing person."

I stare at him enraged,"She's been taken by a crazy psychopath!" I shout,"We have...."

"We can't do anything right now," he cuts me off,"They'll just tell you the same thing and probably throw you in jail if you keep acting like this."

I sigh knowing he's right. I drop my head into my hands and rub my face, I just hope she can wait that long.
