I sit in the park rocking slightly back and forth slowly. My eyes flicker one direction to the next scanning always scanning. A leaf falls from a tree nearby I watch it I stare at it so closely I feel my eyes burn the small flutter of movement but as soon as the leaf hits the ground it dissappears. Gone like it wasn't just moving a second ago. Mo trace of it left just nothing. My eyes flicker down to my feet and the shadow stretching across the side walk. The sun is slowly setting my shadow slowly grows across the walkway. Perhaps my shadow is my only friend now.
I stand and walk through the park my head twitching from side to side just incase. Still nothing is there. I still hear the voices the whispers that seem to be carried by the wind down the empty streets. They all sound like something, something I can never make out. Perhaps it is my umagination and the voices arent real.
I reach the city and gaze up at the tall apartment rises. They are starting to crumble. Chunks of their concrete falling away deteriorating slowly. Ever so slowly but yet faster then they normally should.
The wind rips pasts me it has become so cold my entire body goes numb as it passes. I make my way into the building I have claimed as my own. I climb the stairs from the lobby and up to the first level of apartments. I open the first one on the right and walk inside.
I fall onto the bed and watch as the sun finally dissappears over the horizon. I close my eyes and try to sleep. I know it is useless and even if I did the nightmares would return but I try anyways.
