Chapter 10
It's about noon now and James, Scott and I are all still in town Since James got the hydro and water and everything else up yesterday, we bought food today. We also ordered some beds and got blankets and pillows. We got the stuff I need for school and clothes for me. James had also bought a phone and laptop for me, despite me telling him no. I don't know what else James needs to buy, but we're still in town so I guess he still has something.
Scott stops at a store and James gets out, telling us to wait. James doesn't take long however and he's back in the truck in under 10 minutes. He turns towards me.
"Use this only if it's absolutely needed," James tells me as he hands me a pocket knife. I nod and put it in a pocket. Now we go back to the warehouse.
Scott helped us unload everything from his truck and putting it away, making us finish faster. The three of us are sitting on the wooden roof outside the office now, eating supper.
"So in the next few days the beds should be dropped off. Next thing on the list is a new truck then hardwood to make a few rooms. Anything else, Scarlett?" James turns his head towards me once we finish eating.
"I think that's all. Don't forget about your motorcycle is still back in the city."
"Yeah, I know. I'm thinking about going there for a weekend once you've gotten used to being here and know where everything is." I nod and watch the sunset.
"Give me a shout if you want me to stay here while you're gone, James. I can keep Scarlett out of trouble." We all laugh, including me. James leans in towards me.
"You're already healing," he whispers into my ear, I nod as my smile grows. I'm already healing.
"Well, I think I'm going to get to work. My shift starts soon," Scoot announces as he gets up.
"What time are you off?" James asks.
"Four I believe. Why?"
"If you're too tired to drive back to your place, give me a call and you can stay here again. Okay?" Scott and I both nod.
"Thanks, James. I'll see you later." Scott jumps off the roof and starts walking.
"Have fun!" I shout after him. He turns and waves before continuing on his way. I think I saw a smile on his face before he turned though.
"First day here and you've already started healing. That's amazing, Scarlett," James tells me as we continue to sit on the roof, even though it's dark now.
"I'm glad. I'm one day closer to going back."
"I'm proud of you, Charlie. I really am. I've never met anyone nearly as strong as you."
"Thank you, James. I don't think I'm strong yet, but I will be after we're done."
"You're still here, that's what makes you strong. Don't think otherwise. Ever, you hear?"
"I hear you, James. I'll try to remember." He nods and we fall into silence.

"Scarlett! Wake up! Time to get ready!" James shouts at me. I jump up in the sleeping bag and see Scott behind me, in the same spot from the night before. He must have come after his shift. How he's sleeping through James' yelling is unknown to me.
James comes walking down the stairs and over to me without stepping on Scott.
"Can I please just go on Monday? I'll only have three days this week."
