The Wakeup Call (Shadow The Hedgehog Fanfic)

too close, too far.

Shadow, still studies the files, trying to figure out if his theory is true, he looks beside him and sees rouge, sleeping on his shoulder, she stayed up with him for about half the night its now 6 in the morning, and shadow goes for a run, trying not to disturb rouge... a few minutes into his walk shadow can see the start of town, thats when he realizes: " I could just leave rouge there... I have the information I need... but... I couldn't bare it if something bad happened to her... even if she tried to leave..." he runs back, realizing it's been about an hour or 2... He gets back and rushes downstairs, and sees rouge still sleeping on the couch, but as he walks over she wakes up.

"Oh... morning Shadow..."

"Morning rouge..."

Shadow looks at her for a moment, hoping she doesn't know he had left. Then he goes upstairs, just to think... and break the awkward silence. Rouge looked at the files, checking to make sure shadow didn't come down, she wasn't sure if he trusted her yet. She hears him coming down the stairs and put down the files, he saw her reading them, but he didn't really care.

"Let's go, rouge"

"Where?

" you'll see"

They walk out after hiding the files, and they make it to an old space-station-like structure.

"What is this place?"

"Where information from the ark was sent to"

Shadow finds an opening in the old place, and looks around, while rouge looks at the old computers and tryes to fix them. Shadow opens a drawer and finds an old, blue and white, book, he opens it to the first page, "this book is property of Maria Robotnic"

Shadow starts to cry a tiny bit when reading that... it was Maria's Diary, Shadow flips through to the last page written in... it was dated yesterday...

"Rouge!"

Rouge comes running over, and sees him crying.

"What did you find?!"

"Maria's Diary... the last entry was yesterday!"

Rouge doesn't have anything to say... she cant think of anything, so she hugs him, which she knows he hates, but he just hugs her back... Shadow reads the entries before that, then he got to the last one...

"Dear diary, I might have been found... I hear the door creaking open, I need to go. I miss shadow so much, he would know what to do. I think I see G.U.N. search the area! What do I do?"

Shadow looks around for an escape route and finds one out an air vent, shadow and rouge go through it, they see faint tracks, and decide to follow them. Eventually they lead go town, then disappear, they think about where she might go... or who might be able to help... shadow starts running to Sonic's house.

Shadow knocks on the door, when sonic opens the door, he's shocked to see Shadow.

"Hi faker! What's up?"

"Hi... I....I need your help..."

"Sure, come in"

Sonic is curious, shadow is acting very nice to him... well... for Shadow.

Shadow finally gets enough courage to tell sonic the whole story, Shadow usually keeps to himself, but he needed sonics help.

"So now you need to find where maria went? Well she's certainly not here, and I sure someone would tell you if they saw her..."

"Yeah I guess your right..."

"Shadow, you will find her..."

"Thanks sonic..."

"... Well you guys better get lookin, good luck" sonic says with a smile, then they say goodbye, and leave.
