As they entered the familiar house again, Jackson collapsed on his knees and sank onto the carpet.
"OHMYGAWDDDD" he exclaimed, putting his hands on his chest dramatically, "I swear my heart rate was 300 when your brother suddenly appeared!"
Gabrielle sighed and sat by the kitchen stool, her hands supporting her chin as she leaned her elbows on the table top.
"Do all brothers act up when a guy comes around? I've never seen him this way before." she said, recalling how awkward JB made the drive home become.
"I don't know, I've only got an older brother and he doesn't date."
Gabby brushed it aside and decided to make up for her disappointment with a good dinner.
"What you doing?" he asked, seeing her shuffle around the kitchen island, taking random stuff out of the fridge.
She popped her head out from the fridge door, "Dinner. Obviously?"
Jackson's eyes widened as he picked himself up and went for a closer seat by the kitchen door.
"You cook, for real? " he asked.
Gabrielle couldn't be bothered with his musings and continued her washing and preparation.
Jackson watched from the kitchen door and let out an inaudible gasp. Within minutes, she had stacked up an incredible amount of vegetables and condiments in great speed and accuracy that it impressed the socks off him.
Knowing he was watching, she purposefully made her knife work fancier and faster, almost like a real cooking show.
"Don't get too hypnotised, " she said with a smirk, "that's just basic."
He couldn't deny it was a surprising side to her he never imagined. But more so, the sight of a girl cooking for him was something he only fantasise.
"I mean, where did you learn to cook like that? " he exclaimed, eyes never once blinking at the continuous movement of her hands.
"Oh, did I not tell you? I worked in a hotel before coming here." she laughed, "and, our family runs a restaurant business for a living."
"Really?!" he stood up excitededly, knocking over his stool.
"What's with that reaction?" she laughed and looked over at his klutzy self, as he bent over to pick up the fallen furniture.
Oh great. She's probably half a heiress too. That's gonna make things a whole lot easier.
"Oh it's nothing! I.... was.... just surprised at the coincidence. My.... family..... Is quite into food, as well! " he stuttered and laughed it away.
"Anyway Jackson, I just hope you don't get too offended at JB. He's usually not like this. I'm not sure what came over him, really."
Jackson sensed her disappointment and walked nearer to where she was.
"Hey... " he half whispered in an alluringly low voice.
His sudden mellowing sent tingles down her spine and made her tense up in an instant.
Placing a hand on her back, he went by her side and snapped his wrist to pull her into his hold.
"Come'ere" he whispered I'm a pressed-lipped smile.
As if entranced, she dropped whatever she was holding and let down her guard, finding herself swept into the warmth of his breath again.
"Jackson....... " she whined in protest, hands against his chest while frowning but somewhat not pushing him away.
