Ok... I realised I switched from a first person pov to a 3rd while writing as Gabrielle. Not sure what got into me (maybe too much JB) but please continue to read on with yourself in Gabrielle's shoes.... With a hot bod bro! Omgaaad! Here goes!
[Message]
Jackson Wang, 23, 3rd son of the Wang Trade Conglomerate and was rumoured heir to the corporation on graduation. Currently lives in a rented apartment likely with his helper sent by their family. I'd suggest you keep them apart, hyung. His background is complicated.
You watched the message scroll line by line and gasped in response. You couldn't be more opposite and similar to him at the same time. Like you, he was the successor and likely pawn of their family's business dealings, only that the Wang Trade was well-known to be a ruthless one in the industry; with connections underground.
The shower sounds stopped and Jb was going to be out any moment. Quickly, you laid back onto his bed, pretending to fall asleep, but deep in thought.
Things were indeed going to be difficult if families became intertwined by such a relationship, and JB knew that best.
"That's enough JB, just leave."
The cold voice startled him as he opened his eyes.
"Don't do this to me now, Jin." He held on to her wrist as he watched the love of his life tell him to leave for good.
"I can't.... I just can't! Why didn't you tell me who your parents were, Jae? If you knew, then why didn't you stop them?" she teared up as she turned away from him.
"Jin, please stop. You know very well how hard I tried to keep this from them. We don't need to be here with all this nonsense, we can just leave and start our lives as normal people, Jin, we can!" he was almost desperate to ignore the consequences of eloping because she meant the world to him.
"Jaebum. It's not going to work. There's no way we can get married when we're the children of our fathers." she said softly, brushing his hand off hers slowly.
The reality had finally sank in. Im Jaebum, the son of a high profile public minister, was dating the only daughter of a notorious syndicate, and news had spread far enough to the ears of their parents and some press. They had started to send threats to their homes, and it was bad enough that they had to seek solace secretly from the spies of their families, by putting up and weird places. She had enough and couldn't take the disappointment that JB had kept his family history under wraps from her, after knowing who she was. All he thought about was to be with her, and that was all that mattered - but he was wrong, they were never destined to meet in the first place.
"I'm going, if you aren't." She said, her voice full of resolute.
"NO, Jin WAIT!" he got up only to see the last of her, leaving him for good, and that was the last time he knew he could give his heart to anyone.
As you closed your eyes, scenes replayed across your mind. The day you decided to leave the comfortable tower of refuge because of a forced marriage into a reputable family to dispel the rumours of JB's underground relations. JB's departure was a big blow to both you and your family's image. The past half a year made you grow up to face reality much more than you wished. It was difficult yet liberating to leave the shelter called home. The freedom however, was short lived as JB was tracked down as soon as he moved in. Through an agreement, your family decided to put the word out that 2 of their children were pursuing an education and career abroad, to quieten media from the news of things.
