"Well, well, well. Look who we have here!"
He paced around the room in front of the two, grinning maniacally. From the angle they were at, it looked like he was mentally insane, something wrong with him. The flickering lightbulb shone on his face, making shadows appear on his face in spooky ways, only intensifying the insane image. Then again, he looked quite mad at all times, so maybe an asylum was the best place for him.
He clicked his tongue repeatedly in disappointment. "I warned you two. I told you not to tell anyone. Not to let it out. Lucky for me, nobody bought it! I mean, something as crazy as this is rather unbelievable, don't you think? If someone had told me that I wasn't normal, I wouldn't have believed it myself! That's why I told you not to tell anyone. I so wish you had listened to me! Only if..." He trailed off dramatically.
"Oh wait! You two don't listen do you?! That's right, because when adults tell you something once, you don't like to heed their word, correct?!" Sarcasm oozed from his tone, his eyes rolling every so often, expressions exuberant, and arms dancing every which way.
The boy tried first. He tried to yell for the man to stop, but he couldn't. Alas, his mouth was unavailable thanks to the cloth tied around his face. He tried to open his eyes and at least see who the man was, but he couldn't, at least not with the cloth tied around his head. He tried to move his hands or legs, but he couldn't. Everything was tied back in an excruciating position, one that tested the willpower of his arm and leg sockets.
Basically, he was royally stuck.
The girl was in the same position. She was taller, so she tried to tip the chair backward, but the chair was glued to the ground. She yelled louder, hoping for her mouth to open wide enough so she could spit the cloth out. But she couldn't move her mouth at all.
Basically, she was also royally stuck.
The man bent down, his breath cool and minty on the girl's face. "What's that? You didn't tell them? Oh, I know that!" The man stood straight again, his breath suddenly gone. "It was the other one who found the video. But I'm sure you both weren't completely innocent. Who else planted the seed of doubt in their brains?"
Both of the captives wailed.
"Hey, hey, whine all you want! I'm going to leave you two over here for a while, and I'm gonna go. You'll come out once we are ready, which should be, oh, I don't know, under a day. See you both then!"
The footsteps receded slowly, the sound of a creaky door filling the room. The two cried out, hoping to catch someone, anyone's attention, but just as the two opened their mouths, they were swept off their feet, not able to feel the ground anymore. The man's breath was now on both of their faces, as he muttered, "I don't wanna hear a peep out of you two. If I catch you trying to get out of here, I will sure as hell hurt you both, forget the dang project. Got it?"
Neither let out a peep.
"Good," the man said, dropping the chairs back onto the ground. The footsteps receded once again, but this time, the kids were met with total and utter silence.
