it had been six weeks
since you talked to me
and my heart was aching
i tried to make you cupcakes
to smooth everything over
because i missed you so much
i even made the frosting butterfinger flavoured
they were perfect
i was really proud
i'd never thought my mothers baking lessons
would come in handy
so i brought them over to your house
there was a red corvette in the driveway
i knew it was her
i got out
and placed the cupcakes
on your welcome mat
i could smell the weed from there
i rang the doorbell
then sprinted back home
with tears streaming down my eyes
i hadn't cried that much since i dropped my lollipop in the sewer
when i was four
there were so many tears
flooding my vision
that i didn't see the jeep heading towards me
and it didnt see me
but i sure as hell felt it.
