i woke up in a small room
with tubes controlling my body
and a craving for peanut butter
my mother was in the chair across from me
her face looked ancient and her feet were bare
she was sleeping
i wondered if she had been here the whole time
i didnt know what time or day it was
or what had even happened to me
i didnt even care
i just really wanted peanut butter
a man came in
boy, was he a looker
he said his name was doctor john
and that I had gotten hit by a car
doctor john said
that my skull was bruised
my ankle was broken
and i had lost half of my blood
i should've been worried
but i was too busy
focusing on his abs poking out his scrubs
doctor john said
that there was someone here to visit me
and that they had been waiting
for six hours
and when i saw you peek your head in
with your ocean eyes
that looked sadder than ever
my heart melted
exploded
and dissolved into air
i said hi
and you said hi
and
some how
we started making out
and i was completely okay with that
my mother, however, was not.
