                                                                                 Chapter 2:
Dennis and I rolled down to the Burger Shack with the radio blasting 'Runaway' by Del Shannon. "I havent been here yet." I told Dennis.
"Really? Gee, I grew up at this place. How long have you been here? You dont like you were born in hawthorne. Youre not tan enough." He smirked.
A woman on rollerblades came out and handed us a chocolate milkshake with two green straws and a basket of fries. "Uh, well i havent been living here for long, my father is just here to invest in his buisness."
                            "And his buisness exactly?"
"Oh, well uh i dont know if im supposed to tell people this..-"
"Come on babe, you can trust me" dennis said, casually putting his toned arm around my shoulder.
"Oh well alright. My dad sort of, founded this record company. Capitol records. Theyre here to check out this new band. My dad is pretty excited." After i said this Dennis's eyes widened. I took a sip of the milkshake and looked at him oddly. "What are you so shocked about?"
"You... youre Lana Mercer. Johnny mercers uh.. um. daughter?"
                                "Gee, well yeah."
"Oh well, shit. Your dad is here to see my band." dennis said, a little out of breath. he wiped his forhead and ate a few fries. "Hes thinking about signing us."
"Youre playing with me arent you?" I asked, taking off my sunglasses.
"No, actually im not," He looked out to the other cars, rows and rows of them, all different colors. "Well now i cant even look at you, i just feel nervous."
"Oh, hey now this makes me feel just great," i sighed "Im not my father you know," i touched his arm lightly. "Don't be nervous, my dad told me he liked you guys. You're called the beach boys, right?"
Dennis turned around very slowly, putting his eyes on me. "He... he did? Oh, boy, well thats just great!"
"Hey but dont say anything to your band. Its not a for sure yes. Okay?"
Dennis nodded. Ugh his eyes. his eyes were as blue as the ocean which he loved so much. the ocean he surfed in. and his chin, his chin was split in the middle. Deeeelightful. boy id never been so attracted to someones chin in my life.
Even though his looks were seductive and somewhat puzzleing, i was worried that he would try to take advantage of me because of my fathers position. I wasnt going to be played. but as that thought entered into my mind it was quickly shot down by Dennis's smirk, which assured me that he would take care of me no matter who i was or how much money my father had.
