2 hours after we had arrived at Marina's house, during yet another painful interrogation, a rock came through the window behind where Marina was standing. All of her minions, as well as her, looked down on the street below, through the now empty window frame.

This gave us enough time to get the daisy chain of untied ropes started once again, and soon we were all free, and we began running to the streets.

Once we got there, I was shocked and utterly dumbfounded to see that Emmy was the one who had tossed the rock through the window. Her beautiful hazel eyes lit up when she seen my face, but we didn't have time for anything lovey-dovey. We had to run for our lives because our lives really did depend on it.

We ran for miles, hiding in an alleyway hidden between houses and apartments. We heard Marina and her "gang" arrive shortly after. From where we were perched, we could see them, standing right in the middle of street. They were screaming obnoxiously loudly, trying to lure us out.

We were far enough away from them, that they wouldn't hear us if we spoke at our normal volumes, so we struck up a conversation.

"I love you guys more than you'll ever know. I'm pleased to have spent my time with you" Emmy said, a smile on her face, but a tear on her cheek.

"Don't say that Em. You're going to survive this." Nate responded, in the soft voice that he always speaks in. His eyes were soft, as he stared into Emmy's, his face solemn.

"This is my war to fight. I shouldn't have dragged you guys in with me. We still have 4 hours to go until the purge ends. I need to give myself up." Emmy stated, her face going blank. "This isn't how I would've wanted to go, but that doesn't matter, because you don't get to chose your fights. This is the fight that I'll have to lose. Maybe I can't chose my death, but I did chose my life, and I chose it right." She finished, looking each and every one of us in the eyes as she spoke.

She continued to speak a bit more, but I couldn't focus. This is an argument that I knew I couldn't win, but I didn't want her to go. It's too soon. I needed her here with me forever. As they say though, only the good die young.

I got up, and everybody stared at me in confusion. I paced for a few minutes, pondering my thoughts and decisions. We spoke some more, but nobody asked me what I was going to do. They didn't think I was going to do anything except for stop Emmy.

I offered Emmy a hand, pulling her up from her seated position and hugged her. I pulled away, looking into her eyes, and we kissed. It was passionate, and long.

Her breath tasted of watermelons as always, her beauty unbelievable. I remembered all the times before, when I was with Emmy. When we were happy.

I remembered the moment that I first fell in love with Emmy.

~Flashback~

I watched Emmy in amusement. She was meeting my younger brother for the first time, who, at the time was only 4. She looked like a kid on Christmas morning, and she was basically bouncing with excitement.

Once we got there, she basically ran in through the door, greeting my parents, then looking towards the small boy next to them.

"You must be Peter!" She said with so much excitement.

As I greeted my parents, I watched Emmy interact with Peter. She was so good with children. In that moment, I knew I was in love with her.

~Flashback Over~

I used both of my hands to push Emmy into Patrick, knowing that he would catch her and sit her down. Then, I walked out into the streets. I coughed loudly, causing Marina to turn around, and look at me with her cold eyes.

"Where's the girl?" She asked, aiming her gun at me. "We don't want any of you. We only want her." She finished.

"I can't give you her." I told her, my face smug.

Suddenly, I seen her prepare to shoot, so I stuck out my leg in an attempt to trip her, feeling the impact of a bullet in my arm.

The next few moments went by quickly.

I heard Emmy scream, and run towards me, assessing the damage.

Another shot rang out through the street, and Emmy's lifeless body fell in front of me.

I screamed. My entire world was lifeless in front of me, and I couldn't change it. I wished it was me.

What a year and what a night, what terrifying final sights.
