"Hello sir, how may I help you?" he heard Freida ask and turned to reply. Her eyes widened and she continued, "Oh, sorry. Here's the pack you need, sir. I keep mistaking you for other people."
"What, no ma'am?" Carter asked, wondering what was up with her.
"No, sir," she curtly replied.
As she turned to leave, he called out, "Wait, you're not supposed to keep a customer waiting. What if I need to buy tampons?"
His little question evoked many stares from passers by but he ignored it. His embarrassment because of his sister's natural body cycle was long gone. It was common and really, if she wasn't ashamed of it and could shout at her gym coach to let her be because of period cramps, the least he could do was suck it up and buy the said tampons for her.
Looking towards him, she answered the question, "My shift is done. Just find someone else."
She was fast; he would give her that.
But he was faster.
