Chapter 13: My Memories

here i am! once again!

recap: I stood frozen, not sure how to react, my hands start shaking and i flinch. i can't help it...There was only one man that's ever called me a monster...and i loved him. I back away, terrified. I was a monster...wasn't i? I backed out of his room and began running towards the front door. I ran past the others, not caring about them at the moment. I can hear them running after me and i turn invisible and run through the woods, i need to get away, get away from all this.

I curl up and rock back and forth. I was under the bridge again, my bag close to me. I sniffle and rub my eyes. i cough harshly and push my hair back. I close my eyes, tears going down my cheeks, i know exactly what memory saw, and i haven't thought about it in a while.

Flashback:

i stare at the girl in front of me, i had tortured her, Dr. Honz wants me to break her...she's a traitor. Traitors can't live anymore, that's one of the main rules. Victor was sharpening his knife while chuckling. 

"darling, i don't want to hurt you...but i will" i whispered.

"I'm sorry, please, please....i have a son! please!" the girl sobbed.

I grip her neck, my teeth baring at her. Victor tighten the hold on her wrist and she sobbed. grab the blade and sliced her throat, making her instantly bleed out. I stare blankly at her and i felt arms wrap around me. I look up and smile at him. 

"good work" Victor said.

"Thanks" i said.

End Flashback.

i wipe my cheeks and shudder, trying not to cry. I don't usually cry, not this bad at least. i open my bag and pour the contents out. i threw away old candy wrappers and see the black and white photo of my parents. 

Flashback

I was sitting on daddy's lap while he was fixing my doll. i giggle as he kept mumbling funny jokes. papa's beard tickled my shoulder and mommy was boiling a kettle of water. 

"Bambi...mind getting that?" daddy asked. 

He pointed over to his compass and i smile and nod my head. i look at the compass and beckoned it over. The compass wobbled through the air and i grab it. 

"our little miracle" daddy said. 

"she is...the g-o-v-e-r-m-e-n-t wants us to move to the city" mommy said. 

"darling, we are Amish, moving to the city and becoming something like city folks in an annoyance" daddy said.

"i know...but if we don't...they'll take her" mommy said. 

"only for a year, remember?" daddy asked. 

"a year...it would be easier considering we have another baby on the way" mommy said.

"see? we'll be fine" daddy said. 

End Flashback

i stare at the photo and stroke their faces, biting my bottom lip. I have thought about going back...but i don't even know where they are. That's a lie, i could easily find my file...but something's holding me back. i grab dad's compass and bit my bottom lip

Flashback

I look at the man with the weird black suit...I've never seen a man wear the kinda outfit before. mommy was holding me tightly while daddy was talking to the odd man. mommy kissed my cheek and softly hum. 

"darling...you're gonna have to go somewhere for a bit...okay?"  mommy whispered.

"where?" i asked.

"somewhere safe....okay?" mommy asked.

"okay mommy...when will i be back?" i asked. 

"soon" mommy whispered. 

Daddy grabs me from mommy and holds me tightly. I grip onto him and he softly whispers calming words into my ear. 

"it'll be alright my little one...we'll see each other soon" daddy whispered.

"promise?" i asked.

"promise" daddy whispered. 

Daddy pulls out his compass and gives it to me, making me whimper. Daddy kisses my forehead and carries me over to the strange man.

"this is Sebastian Shaw...he'll be keeping you safe" daddy said. 

"hello...lovely to meet you" Sebastian said softly.

"hello" i said shyly.

"I'll take good care of her, i promise" Sebastian said. 

"I take your word for it" daddy said.

Daddy slowly sets me down and Sebastian takes my small hand and leads me over to an odd metal thing. He opens the door and helps me inside. I wave to mommy and daddy and they wave back to me. The odd metal thing starts moving and Sebastian smiles at me.

"what's your name?" Sebastian asked.

"Kassidy" i said shyly.

"quite adorable...i have a...son around your age" Sebastian said.

"really?" i asked smiling.

"yes...well he's more around the age of thirteen, but still a child...you'll love him, you'll be in the same training program as him" Sebastian said.

"what's his name?" i asked.

"Erik" Sebastian said.

End Flashback

I set the compass down and grab the small bracelet Erik had made me when we were together for a few years. 

Flashback

I was stretching my arms after my combat training, Today i turn thirteen and i was pretty excited about it. Erik strolls in, he's pretty taller than me and he's only twenty one. i smile sweetly at him and he smiles back. 

"happy birthday" Erik said.

"thank you" i said smiling. 

Erik sat next to me and grabs my hand, lightly tugging on it. i look at him in question, but smile wide when i see he slid on a metal bracelet, making me smile. it had a metal plate that said "E+K". i smile wide and hug him tightly. 

"I heard that Dr. Honz will be coming back tomorrow....nervous?" Erik asked.

"nah...I've been training, plus Victor will be here also" i said.

"i don't see why you like him so much, he's a perve" Erik said.

"jealous?" i asked teasingly.

"jeeze, ew, no...why would i be jealous?" Erik asked rolling his eyes.

"because I'm practically a woman now" i said cheekily.

Erik rolls his eyes at me, but smile at me. He pulls me into a hug and i hug him back just as tightly. i close my eyes tightly and relax in his hold.

End Flashback

I slip the bracelet on and wipe the remaining tears away. Erik doesn't remember our time together and I've made sure not to act like i knew him either. It's better this way, for him not to know how much pain i actually gave him.
