Recap: I slip the bracelet on and wipe the remaining tears away. Erik doesn't remember our time together and I've made sure not to act like i knew him either. It's better this way, for him not to know how much pain i actually gave him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up to thunder and lightening. I peak from under the bridge and sigh. I was hungry...I haven't ate in almost a week. Yes, it's been almost a week since i ran away from the school...they haven't found me. I was relieved and also slightly...disappointed. Alex must have told them about what he saw...They must think I'm a monster.
A monster. Someone who doesn't even deserve to live. i slowly stood up and stare at the river. i walk towards it, killing myself, it would solve everything...wouldn't it? I could never ask anyone to be with me...to harbor my past and it's darkness. i walk into the water, slowly going deeper and deeper.
"what are you doing?" someone asked.
I look at the rocks and see a kid, maybe ten. He has silver hair and was holding a large bag of...candy? I raise an eyebrow at him and shrug my shoulders, not really wanting to answer him.
"none of your business" i said.
"aw come on...my mom says you're not supposed to be in water when there's lightening" the boy said.
"why's that?" i asked.
"because you'll be electrocuted, duh" the boy said.
"right, and why do you think I'm in the water?" i asked.
"...oh...why are you trying to kill yourself?" the boy asked.
"does it matter?" i asked sighing.
"it does" the boy said.
"look, all i know is that it's none of your business, go home, okay kid?" i asked sighing.
"nah...come out of the water...please?" the kid asked smiling.
"give me one good reason" i said.
"...i have food" the boy said smiling.
i pursed my lips...i was kinda hungry, not going to lie, might as well listen to the kid and attempt to kill myself when he's gone. i walk over to him and sit down next to him. I was soaked, not really a problem.
"you might wanna get out of that jacket, you'll catch a cold" the boy said.
"trust me kid....what you see won't be pretty" i said.
"i doubt that" the boy said.
I roll my eyes and slip my jacket off, the kid looks at my arms in wonder, but doesn't ask, surprisingly. the boy takes out a turkey sandwich and hands it to me. I unwrap it and quickly took a bite.
"Jesus, this is delicious" i mumbled.
"when's the last time you ate?" the boy asked.
"about a week" i said shrugging.
"Jeeze, and i thought grown ups were responsible" the boy said huffing.
"so did i, trust me" i said sighing.
"so, what's your name?" the boy asked.
"Kassidy, your's?" i asked.
"Peter Maximoff" Peter said smiling
"cute name" i said amusingly.
"thanks" Peter said cheekily.
I look up at the rain and sigh in annoyance, as much as i like the rain, it did make me annoyed. Peter finishes his sandwich and take out a juice box and gives me one.
"so, do you live here?" Peter asked.
"...at the moment, yeah" i said.
"that's so cool...you know, if you want, you could always stay with me, my mom wouldn't mind" Peter said.
"I'm pretty sure she would" i said smiling.
"nah, we can say you saved me or something...jumped into the river for me" Peter said.
"can't you swim? you're like what? ten?" i asked.
"Eleven for your information, and no, i can't" Peter said pouting.
"shocking" i mumbled.
"anyways, please? at least come for dinner?" Peter said pleadingly.
"fine..." i said groaning.
"great" Peter said smiling.
We finish eating and i pack my bag again and Peter brings me to his house. I notices he twitches a lot, very odd kid. Peter stops at a house and we walk towards a pretty nice looking house. Peter opens the door and drops the bag off.
"mom!" Peter shouted.
A young woman runs in, looking so worried. She hugs him tightly, checking all over for bruises or any kind of injury. I smile, he's lucky to have a mom.
"where have you been?! i was worried sick!" his mom said worriedly.
"sorry, i was walking on the walls of the bridge above the river and lost my balance...Kassidy saved me" Peter said quietly.
His mom finally registers me and stood up straight and checked my soaked body, making me look at me feet. I'm surprised when she hugs me, making me freeze, but slowly hug her back.
"thank you so much, please, let me get you some fresh clothes, okay? Peter, go get dried off" his mom said.
"okay" Peter said.
He ran into his room, his door closing. His mom leads me into the bathroom and i sit on the bathtub. His mom leaves, then comes back with clothes.
"my name is Mira..." Mira said softly.
"thank you...it's lovely to meet you" i said softly.
"no, thank you...Peter, he's always getting himself in trouble" Mira said.
"he seems like the type...but he's such a great kid" i said softly.
"alright, get dressed, would you want to stay for dinner?" Mira said.
"i don't want to intrude..." i said trailing off.
"I'd feel more offended if you didn't" Mira said teasingly.
i nod my head, smiling at her, she was such a sweet woman, I'm glad that there's still some good people in this world...why on earth are they helping me? Mira walks out and i start getting changed into something dry and that smells like...flowers.
