Song: It's Complicated - A Day to Remember
McKenna
I felt myself being engulfed in arms. "How'd we do, Mikey?" Josh asked, as they all pulled away from me. I shoved my phone in my pocket, still in disbelief over what I just read. I tried to look positive.
"Amazing." I smiled.
"Something's wrong." Neil frowned.
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
"We were obviously extraordinary, what's going on?" He said with a sarcastic tone but a concerned expression.
"Its not important." I shrugged. "I'm hungry though." I felt my stomach rumble.
"Me too." Nearly everyone said at the same time.
The six of us decided to walk to catering together. We got our food and sat at a round table. I was sat between Kevin and Alex.
"So what's the plan for you guys after this?" I asked.
"I think we're staying for an extra day and then hitting the road again." Kevin told me. "What about yours? Have you spoke with your band yet?"
I frowned and nodded. "Yeah. A little bit. There isn't really a plan." I told him.
"What do you mean?" Alex asked.
I felt everyone's eyes watching me.
"I'm not in the band anymore." I felt a lump in my throat and could feel tears in my eyes.
"Oh. I'm really sorry, Mikey." Kevin put his hand on my shoulder and lightly rubbed there.
"I don't want to be in a band with liars and cheaters anyway." I shrugged, pushing my food around on my plate, suddenly not feeling hungry anymore.
The conversation dulled a little. I just poked around at my food until they finished eating.
"Why don't you stay with us tonight? We've got an extra bunk. Tomorrow you can figure out where to go." Jeremy suggested as we disposed of our trash.
"Yeah. That sounds nice. Thanks." I smiled at him.
I followed them to their bus where they showed me the bunk I would be sleeping in. It was a bottom bunk, below Kevin's and across from Josh's.
"Its pretty late. I think I'm going to head to bed early, try and get some sleep." I told them.
"Let me get you something more comfortable to sleep in." Josh offered, heading towards the front of the bus. He returned a moment later with a tshirt and basketball shorts. "It might be a bit big on you, but I figured it would be more comfortable than what you're wearing." He smiled at me.
"Thanks, Josh." I smiled back. I crawled in my bunk and pulled the curtain back. Changing in the tight space was difficult but manageable.
I got up and used the bathroom real quick. All the guys also wanted to say goodnight and give me a hug before I went to bed.
I crawled into my bunk for the night and tried to get comfortable. No matter how I twisted and turned, I could not get comfortable. I eventually gave up and stared at the top of my bunk, thinking about the events of my day.
I caught my boyfriend of two years cheating on me with my best friend of seven. I was kicked out of my band. And now I'm staying on a bus that doesn't belong to me with no idea of what to do or where to go next. Doesn't get much better than that.
I couldn't help the fact I had started crying. I used to the blanket Jeremy was letting me borrow to cover my mouth and silence my sobs, as well as mop up my tears.
