Sixteenth Birthday

Today is my birthday. I'm turning sixteen. Mom knocks on my door.

"Hey, Eby, what are you doing?" She asks.

"Nothing, just texting Amy!" Amy's my cousin, Aunt Anna's daughter.

"Okay, well lunch is ready if your hungry." She leaves the room, shutting the door behind her.

I go down stairs. Everyone is sitting at the table. Mom, dad, Aunt Anna, Uncle Kristoff, and Amy. I sit next to Amy, mom puts the lunch on the table.

"Dig in!" She shouts.

Mom made homemade potato chips, and homemade bread. I put the sandwiches together. Then I went upstairs to my room. I watch as Aunt Anna pulls a small, heart shaped box out from under the table.

"Here, Eby, this is from all of us!" She pipes, handing me the box.

I pull out a gold chained necklace with a rustic, golden, locket at the end.

"Thank you, it's beautiful!" I chime. Move to where dad's sitting. "It's a symbol of respect, and love. When the father gets to put the necklace on their daughter's neck when they turn sixteen." I smile, as he puts it on.

"Thank you." He says.

I go back to my seat. We finish eating. It's two o'clock. My sweet sixteenth party starts in three hours. I hear the doorbell.

"I'll get it!" I say, walking to the door.

I open the door. My friends Rachelle, and Mandy are here. There moms are Madison Elmany and Rachel Fitz Herbert.

"Happy birthday E!" Mandy shouts.

They hand me their gifts and come in. I'm not dressed. And the decorations aren't up.

"Mom," I yell, she's in the backyard. "Mandy and Rachelle are here!"

"Okay. You guys can help me set up!"

Me, Amy, Rachelle, and Mandy all go outside. We help finish the decorations. I run upstairs and get dressed. I put on a white beaded crop top, with a light blue skirt, the skirt has a white beaded belt to match the top. I walk slowly, and gracefully down the stairs. Everyone stares as I came down. Mandy, mom, dad, Rachelle, Aunt Anna, Amy, Uncle Kristoff, my boyfriend, James, and his friends, Ricky, Johnathon and Thomas.

"Sweety, you look beautiful!" Mom exclaims.

I let put a slight giggle.

"You should listen!" James says, he pecks my cheek.

"Dude, she's hot!" I hear Ricky whisper.

We all go to the backyard. Mom brings out the food, and drinks. As it gets darker we move into the huge garage we have. I turn on soft, romantic music.

"Everyone sit down in a circle. We're going g to play spin the bottle!" I say sitting down. "Remember, you have to kiss the person to your right! If you don't take the dare you have to pick someone to ask you a question. From this bottle." I put the bottle down and spin it.

It points to Ricky. He either has to kiss Mandy or choose the question. He kisses Mandy. Mandy spins the bottle. After a long night everyone leaves. I head to my room and change into my P.J.'s.

"Night mom." I say walking from the bathroom to my room.

"Night, and happy birthday."
