The Last Day

The next morning, I woke up on cloud 9, but quickly brought down to ground floor, when I realized I was leaving LA. Dalton volunteered to take me to the airport, and I certainly didn't reject the offer. While waiting on the check in line he said, "You know, we had almost a year of a ciues relationship in a week." I snickered. "I guess that makes us a couple," he said. My eyes widened. "Guess so," I said.

"If we're going to do this, we should do it right."

"Huh?" I asked.

"Ally Jones, will you be my girlfriend."
"Of course."

We hugged. That was our thing--hugging. It meant more than kissing. It made kissing more special. Before we entered the terminal, Dalton prepared to say one last goodbye.

"I'm not ready to go," I said.

"I'm don't want you to."

"Then what?"

"Don't."

"What?"

"Don't leave."

"Can I do that?"

"You're done with high school and no job or anything. Stay here for a while. I'll pay for it."

"I can get a job. You can't just pay for it."

"That works too."

"I don't want this to end."

"Don't let it."

He kissed me and everything else disappeared.
