If you have ever been extremely anxious, then you know how Ivan felt in this moment. Sitting in his sister's living room with Yao's arm around his waist, he felt like her eyes were piercing into his soul. "Could you please repeat that," Yekaterina asked slowly.
Ivan stared into her eyes, waiting for a second before repeating, "Me and Yao are getting married." Minutes that felt hours slowly trickled by. Then, suddenly Yekaterina wasn't sitting across from them, she was hugging him and whispering, "I am so happy for you!"
He let out a sigh of relief as he felt Yao relax, and suddenly it occurred to him that his sister's approval mattered to him too.
Now all they needed to do was let the rest of the world know.
