As I threw nearly everything I owned under my new bed in my new room, I contemplated whether to look forward to or dread my future in this new town. I was not used to the countryside, having grown up in the city, so I didn't think I'd fit in all too well. I was right. Despite the gleaming sun and the pleads of my parents, I didn't go outside to seek new friends.

In fact, I hardly stepped outside of my front door within the month of summer holidays I had left before the start of school. That was, until, one day a week or so before school, a boy around my age that lived around the corner knocked on my door to say hi. He told me his name was Jake. Jake was about my height and had kind of thick, brown hair. He wore jeans and a hoodie that read: 'Eat Sleep Game Repeat'. I found this very amusing, and I went outside with him to have a chat for a while. After a couple of hours, he invited me into his house, but I rejected the offer and said goodbye.

The next day, the sun was glorious and the sky was clear. Jake knocked at my door again and I went outside with him. He took me to another housing estate at the other end of the village, and introduced me to some of his friends, namely Evan, Lucas, Dylan, Chris, April and Conor, the same name as mine, which I found cool. Jake's friend's were awesome, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, I'd have a chance of fitting in with these people all the time.

Then I found out that they were all a year older than me. This meant that they were going into third year in school and I was going into second year. This meant I'd have to find new friends that were in my year to talk to. I knew that my time here wasn't going to be that easy, and it only got worse when school came along...
