Not in the clear

"Everything's gonna be fine"Merle said looking back at me from the passenger seat.

I realized I was breathing heavy. I had asthma really bad as a kid but hasn't had a flair up in so long. Merle touched my leg. Reassuring me as I took deep breaths waiting out my attack.

Daryl looked at Merle then at me from the rear view mirror

"Who the fucks that" he spoke completely confused on why Merle was traveling with a teenager

"You good now?" Merle asked me with worry in his eyes, ignoring Daryl comment . I nodded to him.

"My names Sam" I said to Daryl. "It's nice to finally meet you.... We've been looking for you for awhile" I spoke truthfully

"Who is this kid Merle?!"

"Look she saved me back when I got left behind. Had it not been for her I'd be dead. We've been traveling together ever since. I owe her my life Daryl" Merle said

Daryl grunted. He and Merle bantered backs den forth for a bit. After so long I tuned them out as I wasn't apart of the conversation.

"Hey Sam wake up.I'm not gonna carry you get your lazy ass up"I woke up to Merle shaking me

"Uh sorry. I didn't realize I fell asleep..."

He chuckled "come on let's get this over with"he said pulling at my hand,I got out of the car and I noticed we were here... at a prison.

The prison we had been looking for for so long.

"We made it. We found it" I said smiling at him

"Yep...This is where Daryl's group lives"he spoke I could hear just how tired he was in his voice 

I looked over at Daryl and his group who were talking to a lot of other people who kept looking our way.

"Why are they looking at us like that" I said anxiously

"They don't like me so since you're with me they don't like you either"he said bluntly,
I nodded and continued to listen to there faint voices

"Are you okay"I ask looking up at him,he shook his head

"Not yet. We gotta see if they'll accept us first, then I'll be okay."

"Well we made it this far" I smiled at him and hugged him he just patted my back probably because this was his old group and didn't want I look soft.

The angry man from earlier stomped down the gravel path.

"Follow me"he said harshly,

we quickly followed after him past the group of people and into the prison.

He led us into a large room then gestured for us to go into the room over. As we entered the room he shut the door behind us locking it.

"This is for my people's safety"he said walking away as the people flooded into the cell block.

I sat on the ground and pulled my knees to my chest folding my hands around them laying my head on my knees watching all the people who came in the room giving us glances every know and then,I sighed and looked over at Merle who was sitting on the bed watching me amused.

I smiled to him,he gave me a Dixon smirk back.
I
realized these people were pretty dumb... I still had my gun and knife. I pulled the red marker out and strayed drawing on the floor,I was now sitting cris cross drawing on the floor,I was drawing names of people I loved,

Merle

Those where all girls from the orphanage I was friends with more like sisters tho and Merle he is like my dad and I like it that way,I laid on my stomach my feet in the air kicking them back and forth drawing my name

'Sam' but drawing it in bubble letters and making weird designs in each letter,I smiled when I finished the M and looked up to see Merle looking at me

"Do you think you could be happy here?" He asked me. Breaking the silence

I smiled at him

"Yeah I guess so" I said getting up and walking over to sit beside him. "Are we gonna stay here?"

"If they'll let us. We ain't in the clear yet."
