Alvin entered his room where his teammates awaited him. Nicholas was reading a comic book quietly while laying down. Susanne sat straight up on her bed, and was reading a book
entitled "Economic theory." Alvin was certain that it was a boring book written by someone that knew nothing about economics, But was very good at convincing others that he did.
Amanda unlike the other two was neither seated or laying down. Instead she stood in the door way as if she was waiting for Alvin. She looked at him expectantly.
"Well are you going to open it?" she asked.
Knowing that she could only be referring to the envelope he reached into his pocket, took it out and opened it.
The message was terse but adequate. "Alvin Wharwood will be the leader of team 3" He handed the letter to Amanda. She smiled when she read it, but when she spoke it was on a entirely different subject.
"What are you going to do with the money?"
"Ah... keep it I suppose." Alvin answered reluctantly.
"I know you cheated." said Amanda.
"Well it's not like I can give it back," The guilt poked at his insides again. "Diana wouldn't accept it unless I told her the truth and if I tell she'll kill me." Alvin said it as if it was a joke, but he wasn't entirely sure it was. "Besides I don't think she cares about the money."
"True," answered Amanda "but what about the other players. Why don't you split the money between the others. "
"I didn't think of that, Alvin said a little embarrassed. Eager to change the subject he asked her what was most bothering him the most.
"How did you know that I cheated?"
Amanda smiled, "My power of course."
"What is your power?"
"I'm a remote viewer."
"How does that work exactly"
"It's hard to explain. I really don't have any other experiences to compare it to. I sort of disconnect my mind from my body. My mind can move around without my body it can't touch anything, but I can see. Well not see... it's not sight but that's all I can compare it to."
"Could you try and describe it"
"Can you describe colors?"
Alvin lightning fast mind couldn't think of a response to this so he said nothing.
"Come on let's share the good news with the others." Amanda said
Susanne's face was a mix of surprise, confusion, and disappointment. Alvin wondered if she expected herself to be put in charge. If she had, she kept her feelings to herself, she only nodded.
Nicholas was much more enthusiastic.
"This great, your the perfect leader" he said his quiet and distracted exterior driven back by the excitement of the moment."We're a real team now. We have every thing except....um except. CODE NAMES!!" Nicholas paused as he suddenly realized every one was looking at him.
"Uh... I mean... We should probably pick code names" He mumbled ducking his head down.
I didn't want to turn this team into some comic book clique. If they had wanted us to have code name they have given them to us. Alvin was about to express this thoughts but Susanne was faster.
"They have chosen a leader for us, they probably have code names chosen for us. I think we can all agree that it would be disrespectful to pick out our own.
