Serenity, Paige and I stood outside, along with other first years, waiting for Madam Hooch. Brooms wer lined up on the ground, in two rows that are opposite from eachother. The sun was shining bright and high, blinding my eyes. I turn my back to it, so that the sun was hitting my back instead. Albus then came trotting up to us.

"Hi!" he managed to say while catching his breath.

"Hello!" the three of us reply. Then Madam Hooch comes striding out of the building.

"Stand on the left side of your broom. Come on now, hurry up!" she says as we scamper to the bunch of brooms. I stand inbetween Albus and Paige.

"Put your right hand above your broom stick and say 'up'," Hooch told us. Some had trouble getting their brooms to go up, and some had no trouble on the first try. After the fifth time, I finally got mine to come up. I look over to see that Paige and Serenity had theirs up already, but Albus was getting no where. When Hooch turned around, he quickly swooped up his broom from the short, green grass.

Albus saw my glance, and we tucked in our lips, to keep from laughing. Madam Hooch started speaking again, "Now mount your broom, and get a firm and hard grip on it. When I blow my whistle, I want all of you to kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your broom steady and still, and hover for a moment. Then slightly lean forward, and touch back down slightly."

"On my whistle. 1, 2, 3..." Madam Hooch blew her whistle. Som of the first years were having trouble. Others were successful. I was one of the troubled. Serenity was one of the successful students, for she was hovering slightly. I kicked off of my feet and almost had it, but I fell back to the ground, and didn't land on my feet.

"Are you okay?" Paige asks as her and Albus lean over me.

"Yeah, fine," I say and get back on my feet. I need to practice a lot more if I want to make the quidditch team.

"Miss Markel are you alright?" Hooch asks while helping another student.

"Yes," I reply and mount my broom again. All through class, people struggled, trying to kick off the ground, but end up looking like hopping bunnys on brooms. I eventually got it, after many tries. Hooch blows her whistle and excuses us to our next class.

During break, Paige, Scorpius, Albus, Rose, and I stood outside of Professor Longbottom's grreen house. I spot a bunch of Slytherins not to far away from us. They're talking and eyeing us.

Then one of them shout, "Hey Malfoy! Why don't you come over here?!"

Scorpius exchanges glances with us, then Rose says, "We'll come with you."

"Thanks," he says before heading towards the group of Slytherins. We follow him, and stop when we approach the Slytherins. There's two girls and three boys. One girl had dirty blonde hair, and she was quite taller than me. The other girl had shoulder length brown hair, and she was very skinny. One of the boys had dark brown hair, and dirt smudged on his face. He was a little chubby. The other two boys looked exactly the same. Twins. They both had light brown hair that reached their eyes. They were the same height and both had intimidating looks on their faces.

"Ya know, I have never seen a Malfoy hang out with the Weasleys or Potters before," the twin on the left said rudely.

"Shut up, Racleen!" Albus stares coldly at him. Strange last name.

"Shut it, Potter! We're not speaking to you," the right twin said.

"So what are you doing with these filthy mud bloods?" The left twin inquires rudely, then stepping into Scorpius's space. Just then, someone pushes through them and separating them.

"Racleen, back off. Leave them alone," James spits in his face. Then he gestures u to keep walking.

"ARE YOU LITTLE FIRST YEARS TOO SISSY TO HANDLE YOUR OWN FIGHTS?! YOU NEED POTTER TO PROTECT YOU 'CAUSE YOU CAN'T FEND FOR YOURSELVES?!" One of them yell from behind us. Then Paige whips around and hexes the one that the voice came from. The other boy, with the dirt on his face, was hanging upside down in midair. His cloak bad fallen over his face and candy bars and other little things fall from his pockets.

"WHO IS DOING THAT?!" Professor Cyr comes storming out of his classroom. Paige instantly shoves her wand into her robe, and the boy falls to the cement.

"Take him to the Hospital Wing!" Cyr says to the Slytherins, then turns to us, "James..."

"It was me," I step forward.

He was silent for a moment, but then told me, "Ten points from Gryffindor."

Then he turns and walks back to his classroom. Why didn't he give me detention?

"You didn't have to do that," Paige tells me.

"I know," I say and smile, "that's what friends are for."

"You're really pushing your luck," James tells us.

"Oh and you don't?" Rose questions.

"I know how to cause trouble without getting caught. Anyway, steer clear of the Racleen twins and you'll be set," James informs us and walks away. Then the two Slytherin girls, who were with the Racleen twins and Dirtface, came up to us.

"Look we don't believe Riley and Joel were being fair back there..." the dirty blond started.

"Just ignore them. They're just a bunch of dung piles," the brunette says. The two introduce themselves as Alexa and Jade. They are both third years and are on the Slytherin quidditch team. Alexa is the seeker and Jade is the keeper.

"Alright see you guys later," Alexa says when the bell rings. I guess people aren't always what they seem to be. Scorpius, Alexa, Jade... all just mirrored images.

We rushed into the gredn house, where Professo Longbottom was waiting. Yes, Neville Longbottom. Who fought along side Harry Potter in the Battle of Hogwarts. He is now the Herbology Professor.

I didn't quite pay attention in Herbology, something about the Devil's Snare. I was staring off into space, thinking about how cool it be to touch a hippogriff. I hadn't noticed that class had ended until Scorpius waved his hand in front of my face.

"Are you coming to dinner or not?" Rose asks me.

"Oh, right," I say and quickly grab my books and quill. We walk down the halls and up stair cases to the Gryffindor common room. When we stop in front of the painting, Albus says, "Patuna Major."

The painting of the fat lady opens, and we crawl through the space and into the common room. We put our books up and head to dinner in the Great Hall. On the way, we had to wait for a moving staircase, and I was reminded of something I had been thinking about.

"Hey Al, why did Professor Cyr assume that it was your brother who hexed that Slytherin?" I ask curiously.

"James gets int trouble a lot. He plays pranks and all that. He's like my Uncle George in a lot of ways. All except for looks," he replies. Well that makes sense. We arrive at the Great Hall, and I sit between Sorpius and Rose.

All through dinner, we chatted about random and pointless things. And I was getting pretty annoyed because Louis kept talking wih his mouth full. I ignored him the best I could though.

"So, Scorpius, do your parents know you've gotten Gryffindor yet?" Fred asks him from down the table.

Scorpius shrugs, "I haven't recieved a letter yet."

"Well do you think your father'll be disappointed or proud?" Brody asks him. He just shrugs again.

After dinner, students head to there common rooms. I go up to the Gryffindor girls' dormitory and slip my pajamas on. I rest my head against my cold but soft pillow. Something hops on my bed, but I realize it's only my cat, Lucy. I pet her soft fur and then she curls up at my side. My eyelids start to droop, and I allo them to close, not knowing that tomorrow would be crazy. All starting with a Howler.
