Chapter six| Throw in your trust
"Oh my god! I was dead?!" I dart up to my feet, pushing back my hair. "How am I still alive?"
"How are you still alive?" Kaylie asks from behind me, holding onto the wall.
"Did-uh you tell them about me?" I look at Evans who's pacing around, he shakes his head "Well, do you want the honors?"
"Honors for what? How can you have secrets? You guys just met two minutes ago!" Kayle screams at me, waving her arms around.
"We met less than ten days ago." I answer her, but then she gives me a look "What?"
"He's not speaking, so you. You speak. What the hell is going on?" She gets really close to me now, really in my face.
"No," I huff out "I don't wish to be spoken to like that, no one does." I sit on the couch, head held high.
"Okay! Can you explain then? If not them I'm out." She places her hands on her hips.
"She's- well, I mean" He looks over to me as I shake my head. "I mean-uh-wow"
"I'm an alien from outer space and I came to take your cattle and return home." I laugh, this was one of the things I wasn't supposed to say according to the timer.
"Fine, don't tell us. But dont-" Kaylie starts saying but Chris interjects
"She's telling the truth. About the alien thing, not the cattle thing." He sits next to me, staring at me really hard.
"She's lying! There's no such thing as aliens! God Chris!" Kaylie grabs her coat from the table and heads for the door. "I'm telling the cops. This is crazy!"
What can I do? She won't belive me, anything I say just doesn't matter to her. Evans. She had to hear it from him. Why does his word matter more than anyone else's? Maybe they were married?
"Evans! Stop her!" I scream at him, ready to go after her. I guess I was really mad because my atties started showing.
"Holy shit!" Chris lets out, basking in the memory of my current state.
Atties are gel like outlines that reveal themselves on a pelician face. It's like a warning sign to anyone we're talking to that we're angry. It also comes out when we face war. That's why my people are picked on, to see the atties. Once seen, the only way to get rid of them is to relieve the anger. By death or letting out frustration.
"What? What is it?" I look at him, still unaware of my atties. "Tell me!"
"Look, Kaylie look! She was telling the truth." Evans says to her and she turns around.
"Oh my god, what the fuck is on your fucking face?" Her eyes, bulging out of their sockets.
"My atties? Oh Jona, just great! Thanks!" I say sarcastically as I get up and excuse myself.
"Atties? Aliens? Babe? Tell us, now." She says, as I leave the room.
I sat down on his bed. First there was shouting, then whispering, then a little more shouting. Then Evan came into the room. He closed the door behind him and sat next to me. This boy just screamed at his friends for me. Now he's here with me. What have I done for him?
"I told them, almost everything. Not about Ms.T or the whole saving Nova thing." He murmurs to me, not even looking at me.
"Do I still have it? My-uh Atties, is it still there?" I ask, if they aren't gone, I'm gonna peel them off.
He looks up at me. But not really at my face, he's looking in my eyes. "Yeah, how does that work?"
"It comes out when I'm angry, I have to relieve the anger or, uh yeah." I tell him, him still looking in my eyes.
"How do you want to relieve it?" He asks, smiling now.
"I just, take a nap or set something on fire." I shrug, there's nothing here I want to light up.
"To be clear your gonna take a nap right?" He chuckles, eyes blinking, and he places his hand on my shoulder.
"Yes, Evans I just need one thing, a cup of water." I inform him, just need to take a nap.
"Okay, I'll be right back." He says to me. When he comes back, he has the cup. "Here you go"
I take a sip of the cold water, laying back down in Evan's bed. This was going to be a long journey. Then from there I doze off.
