Chapter Sixteen

Okay. I will attempt to continue this story. Sorry if it seems different then the other chapters. May be short but only a test chapter to see what everyone thinks. 

Lucy p.o.v

Natsu intense glare caused strange tingles to fly throughout my body. Soul Mates was a term I wasn't familiar with. Mira eventually shoved Natsu through the portal before grabbing a hold of my hand.  Before entering the same portal she turned towards me and utter a single sentence.

"Promise me you won't get in any situations that leave Natsu and you alone."

With those words she pulled us through the portal.  At first everything felt like time had slowed down.  Lights emerged around us as we slowly fell.  Not a normal falling experience since my guts didn't jump around.  Closing my eyes slightly I had this strange feeling of bliss. 

"Lucy"

Snapping my eyes open I searched around for the source of the voice. 

"You okay?" Mira asked glancing towards me.

"Did you hear someone call my name?" I asked.

"No. I'm slightly worried about you.  Being exposed to this much evil may be effecting you negatively" Mira began only to br hushed by Natsu.

His hands left her mouth before turning towards me.  With a hand outstretched he grabbed my wrist pulling me closer.  A sudden sensation ran through my body just from one touch.

"Now now Mira.  Lucy here is perfectly sane.  You see this is a river of magic.  While falling to your destination you can sometimes here the calls of someone dear to you.  It is a trick and a sign of hope" he started to explain. 

"I see" I replied slowly digesting the information. "What about earlier?  Why won't Mira let you explain the soul mate thing?"

"Because she scared is all.  She only wants to look after your well being when clearly I can do that just fine" he stated giving her a glare.

"Listen Lucy.  I don't mean to be mean,  but there is a reason I didn't want him to tell you.  This is all happening to fast.  Our main focus should be escaping from these men.  Finding a safe heaven to rest.  I promise to allow this side of Natsue tell you everything.  Just not right now or it may overwhelm you.  I rather you not collapse under the mental stress and go back to ignorance of the world state of mind" Mira pleaded.

Just from looking at her face I could clearly see she truly was thinking about my well being.

"Fine.  First we focus on leaving,  but I would like to know eventually since this does evolve me" I sighed.

Suddenly I felt flooring under my feet.  A foul smell soon followed suit causing us to cover our noses.  Looking around I notice we ended up in some back alley. 

"Nice landing spot" Mira sarcastic annoyed voice was targeted to Natsu. 

Instead of fighting with her he handed off the sleeping girl to her before turning towards me.

"Clock" he said.

Suddenly the silent tune began to play in my head calming me.  Where he pulled it out from I had no clue nor did I question it.  He handed me the clock before grasping a strand of my hair.

"Till we meet again" he said with a smirk.

His smirk soon twisted to that of pain. Gripping at his head I watched as the horns retreated back into the flesh.  The scales soon faded back to normal skin as the sickening sound of bone mending followed.  Natsu fell to his knees gasping for air.

Tick... Toc.... Tick... Toc..

Kneeling beside him I gently laid my hand against his shoulder.

"Careful" he hissed in pain.

"I'm sorry" I replied removing my hand in panic.

Tick... Toc... Tick... Toc... Tick..

Suddenly I felt pain erupt though out my body. Bitting my lip to stop the sudden scream wanting to rip out from my throat I bent over in a fetal position.

"Lucy!" Mira sudden panic voice sounded.

Tick..... Toc.... Tick.... Toc

The sound of the clock started to intensify echoing all around me.  Their panic voices mixed in with the beautiful sound.  My head was starting to feel like I had split open in two.

My vision soon began to blur as I reached out to grab onto anything.  Once my hand found something warm everything snapped.  All I could see was gold, feel nothing but pain,  and then it all went black.
