*David's POV*
I sat in my desk shooting texts to ten different people about today's lacrosse tryouts. I pretended to be excited to play this year, but my mind kept wandering to painting. No one really new about my hidden talent and hobby; to the whole school I was just a mindless jock who only cared about girls, his car, and lacrosse. I didn't mind being known as that, but it did suck to have to pretend to suck at art class to maintain my image. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
Clare: Thinking of you in health.
I smirked at the picture attached to it. A picture of her with her blond curls cascading over her shoulders. Her snug v-neck was cut low to show off her cleavage. I locked my phone and slid it back into my pocket. I didn't really have feelings for Clare, but she helped take my mind off of Gwynn. Even if she was just an air headed cheerleader, I could always count on her to be available for a little fun. The bell rung for lunch, and I rushed out to the cafe.
*Gwynn's POV*
I jumped when the loud bell rang, and looked to my health partner confused. "It's for lunch," she said, obviously annoyed by my frequent confusion with public school. I learned her name was Clare, and even though I thought she seemed cool she didn't seem to really like me. She was more interested in sending selfies to some guy. I walked to the cafeteria slowly, dreading the fact that I'd be sitting alone while everyone else sat with there cliques.
I sat at one of the circular tables at the edge of the large cafeteria, nit wanting to draw attention to myself. I opened the paper bag and found a note.
Gwynn,
you're a great girl with a beautiful personality, and anyone would be lucky to be friends with you. You're strong and brave, don't let anyone make you feel like you're not.
Love, Mom
I smiled at the cheesy note, and continued to pull out the contents of my bag.
*David's POV*
I found the table that was occupied by my lacrosse buddies and the cheerleaders. I slid in between Clare and my best friend Danny. They all greeted me with fake smiles that I returned half heartedly. Being popular wasn't as appealing to me as it was last year. We talked about unimportant topics like lacrosse and foreign cars our parents were planning to buy us. "Dammit, I forgot to get a drink," Clare swore. "You can have mine," I said as I slid her my Coke and got up to find the vending machine.
I went to the banged up machine at the back of the cafe to purchase my orange Gatorade. when I turned around I nearly choked on the big gulp I was swallowing. Her back was to me, but I knew those shoulder length waves and awkward posture anywhere. I coughed and rushed to sit beside her. She jumped when she felt beside her, and her eyes widened when she looked at me.
*Gwynn's POV*
I swallowed my turkey club slowly as I processed what I was looking at. David. I stuck a shaky finger out and touched his cheek. I felt the warm softness of skin and groaned. He laughed at my reaction. "You go to school here now," he questioned. "Yes, and I guess I picked the one school that the only ex boyfriend I've ever had goes to." He laughed again at my distress. "I've missed you. I'm sorry for not understanding," he confessed. I looked down at my half eaten lunch. "It's ok. No hard feelings," I assured him. There weren't any hard feelings except for the fact that I ached for him.
The pretty blond from health, Clare, came rushing over. "Come on, we're waiting for the bell outside," she said as she stopped at our table. I pointed to myself, and she rolled her eyes and shook her head. David got up. "Why were you sitting with the weird new girl," I heard her ask as they locked fingers and headed for the doors. And just like that my hate for public school and love developed.
A/n:
Yay a double upload! I was excited for her to start school, so I went ahead and wrote this. Tried to make a little longer than they usually are since I'm using a computer for this one. Uhh next chap will start off in art class cause as you might've guessed they gotta have a class together and I decided for it to be art.
