"So who is he," my mom asked one night over our dinner of pizza. "Who?" She rolled her eyes. "The one who's got you changing who you are! You dyed your hair and you're dressing like a homeless person! Women only go through those kind of drastic changes when guys are involved. Plus, someone who isn't David or Vanessa has been picking you up for school, so who is he?" I sighed. "I've been hanging out with Tate. We aren't dating, just hanging out," I explained. "That gothic boy? Please stay away from that boy, he's no good!" "You don't know him, and how could you make me let go of one of the two friends at school," I replied. "Guys like him are a cancer to the people around them! They just suck the life out of everything and leave!" I groaned. "You can't tell me to hang out with and I like my hair!"

"Have I changed," I asked Tate as we sat in his passing a joint while I was supposed to be in art. "Well you're way cooler now. Not as uptight and naive as you used to be. Why do you ask?" I blew out a cloud of smoke. "My mom says I have. It's not that bad right? I mean we've only hanging out for a couple of weeks, I can't be that bad." He shook his head. "Nah it could be worse," he laughed. "And you like my hair right? I thought I needed something new." I tussled my messy reddish brown in the visor mirror. "Yeah, I guess it's hot." He shrugged and looked at me with a smirk. I smiled at my lap.
"Are you ok," Vanessa asked me during passing period. "Totally fine, but do you think I should get a nose ring? What about a tattoo," I asked. "Ok, I think I've let this go on a little too long! Why are you trying to be someone you're not? Do you really think that'll make Tate like you," Vanessa snapped. "Why does everyone keep saying that? God, I can't even try new things without people questioning my motives," I groaned. "This isn't about trying new things and you know it, you're trying to look like one of the girls he screws so he'll see you as more than one of his awkward disciples! Have you even really looked at yourself? Can you honestly say you like what you've become?" I turned away and marched right out of the school and to the place near the football that I knew hung out at.
"Hey, Winnie, I thought you didn't skip core classes." Tate was resting against his backpack on the ground. I ignored his question as I dropped down and straddled his hips. "Winnie, wh-," I cut him off with a fierce kiss, I wanted him to know I was hungry for it. "Take me somewhere and fuck me," I demanded more than asked. "We can do it right here." With that he flipped us so that he was on top.
