*Chapter Fifteen*

“You're late,” he said in a monotone.

Aria left for her work, and I was stuck here. I slanted my eyes at Ray and quickly remembered what I said yesterday.

“Morning, Ray,” I said nonchalantly.

I felt Ray's eyes widen in shock.

Of course he would be shocked, I have never said anything along these lines to him, ever.

He quickly recovered and stood like he normally does across me. I tried hard not to grin. He would learn to regret for not taking me seriously.

I pulled out my sword but looked down in confusion. I didn't feel right. It felt more like a hindrance than a weapon that was aimed to help me in battle. Was this why Ray never used a weapon?

“Anytime today,” I heard Ray speak from across me.

Shrugging, I dropped both the blade and sheath onto the floor. All the time, Ray had his eyes on me.

I ran at him and felt wind blew my hair up behind me. I had learned that my nail was sharp. Sharp enough to easily poke a hole in the metal can of tuna that I found in the kitchen.

I lashed out at him. I was being on the offensive side. Soon, he was being pushed up to the wall. He seemed to realize that as soon as I did and ducked to avoid another attack. My hand passed above his head in an arc, leaving my stomach open for him to attack.

I felt his hand coming close to my stomach, and I raised my left hand to block him. He quickly used his left leg to swipe my feet from under me. I fell to the floor and quickly rolled away to get up. I ended up crouched against the wall.

I used the wall as a support and leaped towards him with a kick against the wall. I felt the wall crumble under my feet, and I shot through the sky. My hand missed his shoulder by a centimeter as he narrowly missed it.

I quickly twisted in the air, and my elbow came into contact with his chest. He flew to the other side of the room and crashed against the wall. Debris from the wall fell on him from the force of his wall. Not even a second later, three white balls shot towards me. I easily dodged them by leaning to a side. The passed harmlessly by me and hit the wall behind me. Dust and debris showered down and engulfed the room in a white haze.

I sensed Ray before I saw him, but it was too late. I crashed painfully to the floor.

I heard the door to the room open and was surprised when I felt Lake entering the room.

“Wow,” he gasped as he took in the damage we'd done to the room.

The dust quickly cleared, and I stood up.

“You - ?” he came rushing to my side. “Holy shit, Amethyst?”

Although we've hung out pretty often and have gotten pretty used to each other, this was the first time he has ever seen my new form.

“You look...stunning,” his eyes were wide.

“Thanks,” I smiled at him and walked past him to face Ray.

Ray was watching Lake strangely, and the look bothered me in a way.

“Get out,” Ray said in an even tone that Lake apparently took as a rude one.

“Who do you think you are?” Lake said and marched past me to stand in front of him. Ray was an inch taller.

“Master has ordered me to train Amethyst,” Ray said as if it explained everything.
