*Chapter Twenty*

It was snowing so heavily that even with my runar eyesight I couldn't make out everything in front of us. Mother, Castina, and I wore thick cloaks to protect us from the cold. Castina was both Mother's closest friend and the direct subordinate under Mother. Mother held my hand as we made through the thick snowstorm.

Mother had made a point in showing up as the Queen of Holsina to show support for the part in Holsina that was heavily attacked by snow. As her subordinate, Castina came with her. There were a mass injuries from the avalanche a few days ago. I was extremely worried. After begging and pleading for hours, Mother finally agreed to let me tag along.

“Mother?”

“Yes, Amy?”

“Is it possible that someone is purposely causing the snowstorm?”

Mother thought about it for a minute.

“Yes, it is possible; however, we cannot say so until we have proof.”

“Although I should say that it is quite unlikely for such a natural disaster to occur.”

It's not quite possible for such a natural disaster to occur since there are plenty of runars who control the nature in each village to balance the weather, and they most definitely won't let such a disaster to happen.

“Yes, Castina, this whole thing is quite strange.”

The three of us stayed silent until we reached that village. It was actually pretty funny to see the runars stare at us with eyes as wide as saucers at the fact that their queen had showed up at their village. Not even ten minutes after we arrived the village, there was already a crowd of runars gaping in awe. Mother stood up on a large boulder to gain their attention.

“My beloved citizens, I am aware of your suffer due to this snow incident...”

I zoned out as Mother gave her speech and thought about this whole thing again.

“Queen Amber,” one of the older villagers spoke after Mother has finished her speech, “the runars who balances this village's natural weather were all killed a week ago.”

That was shocking news. Murders don't happen often in Holsina, and the culprit usually suffers life time imprisonment or direct execution for any murder of another runar. For this reason, rarely any murders happen.

“Amber,” Castina spoke gravely, “this is serious.”

Mother nodded and addressed the runar who spoke.

“Spread the word in town to tell every runar to stay in their houses while my subordinate and I investigate the causes.”

“Yes, my queen.”

The runar bowed and quickly started to tell a few surrounding runars.

“Amy, go find a house and stay there. Cas and I will look around here.”

“Mo - ”

“You're only one, Amy.”

With that said, Mother and Castina set off and soon disappeared.

I frowned. Mother is acting as if I were a human. The current I is around ten years old in human years mentally, and I look like a four year old human in appearance. Pretty weird for humans to understand.
