Chapter 25 - It doesn't make sense

Aria

I woke up to sunlight streaming through the window. The images of last night flashed through my mind. I can't believe he convinced me to do that; not that I didn't want to, but I had more control than that. I didn't remember how I got home or when I even fell asleep. I noticed I was sleeping on my stomach, and I never do that. I made an attempt to turn over on my back but it ached so much I couldn't. I groaned.

"You're awake."

My eyes followed the voice. He was standing close to the window staring out. He looked different out of his suit, not that I didn't like the suit, but this look was much better. His hair was wet, and I could tell he had just exited the shower. His jeans hung low on his hip and his white t-shirt stuck to him like a glove. His biceps bulged when he shifted, and I could make out a tattoo that went down the length of his arm circling around it. I was certain it wasn't there before, or maybe I was too out of it to even notice. It was a snake. That was hot. I loved guys with tattoos. They're one of my weaknesses.

I cleared the fog from my brain and sat up.

"Where am I?"

"In my apartment."

"Clearly. I already figured that out. I meant what area?"

"In the centre of the city."

"What?! Why did you bring me back here?"

"You passed out and I didn't know where else to take you. Besides, you have to stay by my side for the next twenty-four hours or you'll be in extreme pain." What the fuck was he talking about? "Are you out of your fucking mind? I can't stay here. I shouldn't even be here right now."

"Look, I have things to do too, but I can't because I have to make sure you're okay. After what I did to you last night it's only fair." He looked away from me. "How's your back?" He was making absolutely no sense whatsoever. "My back's fine." His gaze wondered to me again. "Are you sure?" What the hell was this man's problem? "Yes, I'm sure! Now I need to go." I wasn't sure why I wasn't screaming or hurting him. I didn't even feel scared around him. This was weird. When I'm around him, I lose all my senses. Who was he?

"If you leave here you will be in pain. The further away from me you are for the next twenty-four hours the more pain you will feel."

"Look, I am leaving here whether you like it or not. I can't stay here for a whole day. I have responsibilities."

He studied me for a couple minutes. "Fine, if that's what you want. I'll be here all day." He walked over to the bedside table and took up something. "Here's my card. In the event that the pain becomes too much, call me. I imputed my address in your navigation system, just in case. I'll take you to your car."

I followed him numbly. What I didn't tell him was that my back was on fire. Every step I took made me burn more, but I could not stay here. I needed to get home so that Alexis could heal me before Nate or Blake get wind of this. I didn't know how to feel about what I did, but I do know I needed time and a clear head to think about it.

Before long, we made it to my car. He spoke again. "We'll skip the club tonight, but I expect you to be there tomorrow night. You'd do well not to disobey my wishes." I didn't deny nor confirm his wishes. To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure if I was going to go back. He stood with his arms folded and watched me as I backed out. He gave me a knowing look which I ignored.
