Once Upon A Very Strange Time

The nurse just walks away with a smile, thinking that maybe my stunned face was because of how much I've missed him.
But she's dead wrong.

I shake, "Go away!" I hiss at him.
He smiles.
"I can't, who will kill you if I do?"
His voice grew bitter at the end of his threat, and his smile disappeared.
"How did you find me?" I question with a voice of a child.
"It wasn't that hard," he retorts. "You're only one village over."
Footsteps sound from the stairway and Yvette appears with a red, tear stained face.
"Miss, I am very sorry, but it's all we-"
"I've heard it!" Yvette cuts the wide eyed nurse off.
"I've heard that same phrase so much!" She screeches at her.
Yvette lets out a defeated sigh and wanders over to Esbern and I.

She just glares up at him. "Who are you?"
"A friend." He replies with the same amount of bitterness.
I shake my head wildly. "A friend?!" I scoff. "You tried to kil me!"
Esbern shakes his head. "That's not true." Is all he says.
"Why don't you just leave? You're obviously not Viktor's friend." Yvette demands, though the tiredness in her voice doesn't scare Esbern or even me.

"Just leave me alone!" I cut in.
He swings his head to glare at me and then back at Yvette who returns the glare.
"Okay," he breaths. "Fine, I'll let you go."
He then leaves and I feel as if that was too easy.
I feel as if I shouldn't have survived that.
Why am I still breathing?

Yvette's changed, she's not herself at all.
She obviously misses Kora and is still broken up over the fact that Filver may be to blame.
She didn't even question me about Esbern, she just collapsed on her bed.
Telling Stones has been visiting us and he told us that the war wasn't looking good.
I agreed, since the amount of soldiers coming in and out of the infirmary scared me.
What if the furs come here?
What will they do to us?

I watch the rain fall outside and I notice more injured soldiers limping their way into the village, many townfolk stare and share worried glances.
I just feel my stomach twist.
