''I'm waiting outside. You said we'll leave at 10:00 am sharp, didn't you?'' I complained into my phone. Manik just cut the call without responding, and I groaned in frustation. Why does he have to be so tough to deal with?In a minute though, the front door opened, and he himself came out dressed in a grey V-neck full sleeved tee and beige trousers with a backpack in hand and an irritated expression plastered on his face. Despite my annoyance at him, I couldn't help but admire how hot and model-like he looked in those clothes.
''Why did you come here? I'd have picked you up if you had just messaged me your address'' He spat as soon as he spotted me.
I didn't want him to know too much about my life to be on the safe side. So I had just asked my uncle's driver to drop me off here.
''Umm.. I didn't want too many unnecessary questions and suspicion at home.'' I lied through my teeth. His features relaxed and he smirked, gesturing towards his sleek white SUV ''Hop On, Smarty Pants.''
As I slipped on to the passenger-seat, he ran his eyes down my legs and drawled sexily ''I like what you're wearing..Makes me wanna..''.
I was in a loose pink tank top and denim shorts. I quickly placed my sling bag on my thighs, covering them and cut him off with a fake sweet smile ''Don't wanna distract you when you are driving''. He chuckled and responded ''Good idea'' before revving up the engine.---------
The road to Pune was very scenic and serene. I rolled down the windows and let the fresh morning air cool my face and blow my hair, enjoying the sight of the lush green surroundings. The ambience was having a good effect on Manik too, because he kept smiling to himself now and then. We didn't speak with each other but revelled in the atmosphere silently.
All of a sudden, Manik began humming the song Safarnama. He had a mesmerizing voice, and I closed my eyes, getting lost in its beauty. No wonder so many people adored him for his music in SPACE.O..Safarnama..
Sawaalon ka Safarnama
Shuru Tumse, Khatam Tumpe
Safarnama..After a minute, I couldn't resist the urge to join in. This was one of my favourite feel-good songs, and I loved singing care freely on road trips anyways. Dropping any ounce self-consciousness I was carrying until now, I too joined him
O.. Jissey Dhoonda
Zamaane mein, mujh me hi tha
O.. Mere Saare Jawaabon Ka
Safarnama..I noticed he had stopped singing abruptly. I too stopped and looked at him in confusion. He pulled a disgusted face and said ''How did you get admission in SPACE? You sing so terribly'' .
Oops, Why do I keep messing up?!
''Uh.. My throat is kinda sore today. Maybe that's why I sound bad. I'm pretty good otherwise'' I replied, trying to sound as convincing as possible. He laughed and shook his head ''I was just kidding. You have a beautiful voice.. It just needs a little polishing. You'll make a good singer'' . My jaw dropped.
So Mr. Monster knows how to crack jokes too? And I actually sound good?. Not bad Miss Murthy.
I couldn't help feeling proud at this compliment, and he chuckled, glancing at my pleased expression. Though he had praised my voice, by now I had become self aware and resorted to only listening to him sing. His soulful voice and the gentle breeze soon lulled me to sleep.
----------
The car screeching to a stop woke me up. I stretched my hands and looked around. We were in Lonavala now and He had stopped at a Dhaba on the Old Mumbai-Pune highway.
