''Dad se baat nahi huwi?'' I asked, stepping out of the washroom after a refreshing morning shower and moving towards the mirror to get ready. Manik sat on the foot of the bed, fidgeting with his phone.

''I called, but he didn't respond. Probably busy with his never-ending meetings in Japan. Until I don't speak with him, we'll have to wait to deal with Nyonika.'' Manik replied.

''I just hope he gets back to you quickly. I want this Nyonika drama to end, so that I can start attending college. I hate sitting around with nothing to do.'' I groaned.

''So..you can go shopping for tonight's party to keep busy while I'm at college..'' Manik suggested and my eyes instantly lit up at the superb idea. Last night, Cabir and Navya had invited us to their engagement celebration party and Navya had informed me it would be a semi-formal theme this time.
Which meant - another reason to get a new dress, and how can girls let go off any opportunity to shop?!

''But.. please promise me, you won't get into trouble.'' Manik asked, looking at my over-joyed reflection in the mirror hesitantly now. ''Come on, Manik.. I can take care of myself..'' I replied dismissively and he chuckled, responding with a sarcastic ''Yeah, right.''

I knew what he meant. Last time he left me alone, I landed in a deserted out-house with a knife at my throat.

''You need to keep messaging me every 30 minutes while you're out, so that I know you're safe.'' He ordered.

''But, you should be concentrating on your music..'' I started, yet had to stop seeing his adamant expression and simply nod. I knew if I refused to agree to his conditions, he might just not go to college and as it is, he had been missing a lot of it lately.

I went back to looking at my reflection and rubbed my wet hair with a towel, before wrapping it up to dry. Next I lifted the edge of my shirt and turned sideways, trying to observe my tummy carefully. I pouted. It was flat as ever.. Not even a small bump indicating I was pregnant.

I heard a small laugh behind me, which made me look back. Manik had been watching me and my expressions made him laugh for some reason. He walked up to me and lovingly slipped his hands from the back of my waist, pulling me close and kissing the side of my neck.

'Its just been a month.. It takes between 12 to 16 weeks for the baby bump to start developing.'' He informed me like an expert, carressing my stomach gently. I knew he was right. Because unlike me, he had been listening to the doctor carefully.

I wanted to respond, but his long fingers now lazily drawing circles on my bare tummy distracted me, and I immediately felt butterflies arising there.

''Manik.. You're getting late for college..'' I reminded him, before we could get lost within our own romantic conquests. It was taking all my strength to not just close my eyes and succumb to the sensations his touches were creating within me.

''Tum bhi na, Nandini.. You don't even let me spend time with my baby.'' He groaned, purposely taking his own sweet time to pull his fingers away.

I smiled at his grumpy face, while he just began walking out without a second glance.''Bye bhi nahi bologey?'' I asked in a deliberately innocent and sweet-as-honey voice and he immediately stopped.

''Oh.. Ofcourse. How can I forget?'' He replied and came back to me. I leaned forward, hoping for a quick good-bye kiss but the man simply went down on his knees and placed a soft kiss on my tummy instead. ''Bye baby, See you soon.. Daddy loves you.'' He spoke to our unborn child with utmost love.

And then smirking at my baffled face, he left. He had gotten his payback. I wanted to be mad at him, but the way he spoke to our child always melted my heart and I couldn't help grinning like a fool.
