My lifeline, my Manik finally got up from his long, long sleep that was breaking me bit by bit every day. I would now be able to once again gaze into his beautiful eyes, hear his melodious voice and feel his passion and love..
But at the same time, my angel, my innocent little baby boy had gone into a sleep he would never get up from. There was no place for hope. He was gone before I could hold his tiny body in my arms and let him cuddle in my warmth. He was gone too soon and he had taken a piece of me away with him.
What was I supposed to do? Rejoice for the return of my love or mourn for the loss of my baby?
I woke up, in the darkness of the night, drowning in pain. No, not the physical pain after delivery but the pain of losing my child. I had fainted, receiving so much of shock at once.
As soon as I woke up, I knew what I wanted. I wanted to bury myself in Manik's embrace, because only he would be able understand the extent of my agony and I wanted to pour my heart out to him.
I stripped off the IV, and despite the pain in my stomach and acute weakness, dragged myself into the dimly lit hospital corridor. It was surprising to see none of my friends staying behind for me, but I was glad they weren't there. They would never allow me to be out and about in that state.
I pushed open Manik's door, but an empty bed met my sight. I turned on the lights and looked around but there was no one there. I actually had expected something of this sort from him - if possible, he would never stay bound to the bed no matter how weak he was. But I couldn't hold that against him, because in this matter, I wasn't any better. Did he even know he had become a father?
As I was about to move out, I saw a little note sticking out from under his pillow. In an extremely shaky handwriting, a few words had been scribbled.Meet me at the terrace Baby-girl.
My heart-beat quickened and I held the note close to me. He knew I would come to meet him.
As I moved upstairs, a voice reached my ears. A voice that I could recognise anywhere, anytime without a single doubt. Because it was unique.. It was special. And it belonged to the person who was my... everything.
Tum ho toh lagta hai main hoon..
Na ho toh lagta hai kyun hoonTum ho to udta hai mann yeh..
Na ho toh tehra sa hai kyunThat voice was one in a million. It could move an entire crowd purely with its beauty. His lean frame had his back turned away from me and his head was lifted towards his favourite stars. Unlike his body, his voice hadn't lost any strength, and I felt it pierce my soul like it always had. My breath got hitched and I felt goosebumps rise on the back of my neck as I took little steps towards him.
''Manik..'' I whispered once I was just an inch away from him, almost scared, he would turn out to be imaginary. He turned and his eyes instantly locked with mine. It felt like time had stopped. He slowly raised his hand and touched my wet cheek with merely his finger tips - with a touch so gentle, I felt like a delicate doll. His eyes were filled with a sort of wonder, like he hadn't seen anything more beautiful, even though I knew I looked pale and weak after my delivery. It was almost as if he couldn't believe that I was actually there..like he was seeing the most heavenly dream.
Ho sake toh rehna tum saath mere
Ho burey ya acche halaat mere..Zindagi bhar rehna tum saath mere..
Hi burey ya ache halaat mere...
Saath mere.. O... Saath mere.He finally smiled, convinced that I was indeed real. We couldn't wait any longer. The next moment, we were being crushed by the strongest embrace, trying to lose ourselves completely within each other. We pushed into each other even more and didn't care if we weren't able to breathe properly.. The need for each other was far more. I kissed over his heart and he placed dozens of little kisses over my hair.
