''Uncle?'' I managed to barely whisper.

He stood, with a shocked expression, at some distance from the couch with Mukti by his side. Mukti began making wild gestures behind him, and I realised she was asking me to move. Me and Manik were in the most awkward and embarassing state - I was lying below his torso, my hair messily sprawled around and his shirt half unbuttoned. Manik too noticed Mukti's gestures and fortunately moved without asking for any explanation. I straightened my top, which had been crumpled beneath him and slowly stood up, not daring to meet my Uncle's eyes.. How I wished I could dig a hole in the white plush carpet under me and just disappear from this scene.

''Uncle.. I..'' I began speaking again despite the way my heart pounded and my mouth dried up, but all he did was shoot me a disgusted look and walked out. Mukti ran behind him, probably to calm his nerves. I groaned and put my hands on my forehead in regret.

''So.. That's your uncle huh? What was he doing here?'' Manik asked, running a hand through his hair casually. Doesn't the idiot realise what mess I'm in?

''All this happened because of you. When you had said that there wouldn't be any physical relation between us anymore, why did you have to touch me again? Do you know how big of a problem I'm in right now?'' I shouted at him, letting out my frustation.

''Listen, Miss Murthy. It was you who initiated the second kiss. And I have enough problems of my own... I have no time, neither the desire to get concerned with your issues. Now get out of my house before I lose it.'' He replied furiously. I would have unleashed more anger on him, if I didn't remember that I had an uncle to give explanation too. I angrily threw a punch at his chest and walked out, not caring to look back if it actually hurt him.

I reached home, only to find Mukti waiting at the doorstep, nervously wringing her hands and biting her lips. ''How bad is the situation?'' I asked, referring to Uncle.

''Pretty bad.. I have never seen him so angry.'' She replied, confirming the worst.

''But...Why did you guys even come there?'' I asked exasperatedly.

''When you told me about Manik's text to meet up on phone, I knew you would go.. And I was really worried, especially after coming to know he is a probable murderer.. So I called up Dad, and told him you might be putting yourself in some risk..'' Mukti replied, in a guilty tone.

''Oh crap!!.. So Uncle used his sources to get to know Manik's location.. And ended up there.'' I finished up, figuring out the rest.

''Please forgive me Nandz...I had no idea we'd find you in that position with him'' Mukti apologized sincerely, tears spilling out of the corner of her eyes. I knew she had done all this only because she was concerned, and had no harmful intentions. ''Its okay. I'm not angry with you Mukti. I myself don't know how I ended up in that position with Manik. Let me go and handle Uncle now'' I assured her, in a tone braver than what I was actually feeling on the inside.

Rajiv Uncle stood with his back turned to me, looking out of the large window in his study. I bit my lip and took a deep breath, trying to gather all my courage.

''Uncle... I..''

''I've never felt so humiliated in my entire life. I bought you up like my own child and never let you feel like an outsider. Have I not been able to instill good values in you? Have I failed in my responsibility as your guardian?'' He asked, before I could complete my sentence. The tone he used pierced my heart and I immediately shook my head and ran upto him, grabbing his hand.

''No.. uncle, please don't blame yourself. You are misunderstanding the situation. I was only doing this for the case.. It was just for my job.. And..''
