My Life turned Upside Down

As I made my way down the street I feel someone's hand grab my wrist and tighten around it. Whipping my head around I turn to see Takumi. "Not in the mood for your antics, Takumi!" I yell as I yank my wrist out of his grip and he stumbles away looking surprised.

"Yuuki? Where're you going? Wait- Have you been crying?" He asks looking at the tear stains on my cheeks and my puffy red eyes. Avoiding his eye contact I look away out of the corners of my eyes as he puts a hand under my chin moving my head to look at him. "Hey...what's wrong?"

"No! I don't cry....just leave me alone Takumi. Learn when and when not to start a fight. Now is not a good time. It's none of your business." I say as I turn around and begin to continue walking. As I take a few steps away from him I feel his strong hand on my shoulder as it pulls me back towards him.

"Where do you think you're going? God Yuuki think things through. Come on." Takumi says as he grabs my arm and starts walking basically dragging me into his house. I had been in his home thousands of times before. It was almost a second home to me. We walk past the kitchen I had eaten in many a time as he pulls me into his room and pushes me down to sit on his bed as he stands looking down on me as if he were ashamed. "Now what happened? You're not leaving until you explain what's wrong." Takumi said sternly as he stood in front of me.

"Sheesh. Who do you think you are my dad-" as I said the word dad my eyes welled up with tears as a knot formed in the back of my throat. Takumi kneels down to look at me before wrapping his arms around me and hugging me silently.

"Yuuki I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong. Hey. Don't cry. Yuuki." He says comfortingly hugging me as I started to cry more. As I cry the piece of paper falls out of my pocket and he looks down at it and pulls out of the hug lightly picking it up before unfolding it and looking at it. Parts of the ink were smeared from where tears had fallen. His eyes scan the paper reading over it quickly. His hand swiftly moves to the back of his neck where he feels a small scar. "Yuuki. It's true. I have a scar too. I'm really sorry about your parents but what if this is happening to others all over the world? Now that we know this can't we do something? We can change this Yuuki." He says his sea blue eyes seeming to shine with curiosity. I let out a small chuckle as I wipe away the tears.

"Weren't you the one lecturing me about my stupid dreams of adventure a day ago? What happened to the popular boy who made fun of my unrealistic fantasies? Who are you and what have you done with Takumi?" I say as he grins at me.

"The difference is those were out of reach. This isn't. This is reality Yuuki. This isn't an adventure novel. This isn't a teen fiction novel. This is our life! We can actually do this." He says his eyes wide with wonder as he speaks. He was completely convinced in his cause.

"Takumi, are you stupid? We don't even know what we're up against. We don't know a single thing about the truth of this world. One baby step at a time buddy. Lets just start with getting these chips out and quick. Alright? I guess you're coming with me right? Pack up. We've gotta go and fast. Before they find us." I say my voice full of urgency. Takumi lets out a sigh as he hands me the piece of paper and I quickly fold it back up and put it in my pocket.

"Keep that safe. It'll be important" Takumi says as he gets up and takes out a backpack and starts throwing clothes into it without any thought of what he was taking. He throws in a toothbrush and tooth paste, a few pairs of clothes, a few granola bars, a bottle of water, his phone and a notebook with a pen. "Just in case I need it" he says as he notices my curious gaze at his bag.
