A Different Kind Of Love

Aaliyah's POV

It's been a few weeks since Dr. Payne, David, and I started talking on a more serious level. We keep it professional at work but we've had a few date nights, but we're taking things slow. I've told him about August... not everything but enough so he understands why I want to go at a slow pace. He told me about his ex fiance and his son. He's amazing and with him there's no drama. I finally feeling like I'm where I wanted to be mentally, emotionally, and financially. I know emotionally, I'm not fully over August but I'm at the point where I don't think about what could've been and I don't find myself comparing David to him. 

 Everyone went back home, so I was back to just working and hanging with David and his son Aiden. He's a very handsome toddler, but so is his father so that's understandable. He shares custody with his ex fiance. He's an amazing dad. You would think a man is age would be out partying but he would rather stay home with his son and play on his Xbox. 

Spring break just started and Amayila and Chaylen's birthday is in a few days so I'm going back to Louisiana to celebrate with their tenth birthday. Mama Theresa's having a party for them and I had to go, so I took a few days off work and I'll be leaving out early tomorrow morning to get there early to help get everything ready. My flight leaves here at  2: 00 a.m. and it's only a three hour flight so Symone will pick me up at 6 o'clock. 

"Do you have to go?" David asks taking his eyes off the television to look down at me. We're laying on the couch and I'm laying on him with my back to his chest.

"Yes and if I don't go I'll get cursed out." I say and he chuckles making his vibrate beneath me.

"You can always come though." I say looking up at him

"I don't think August will appreciate me being there." He says wrapping his arms around my waist

"Then you should definitely come." I say with a small smirk

"I don't want to be the one that ruins their birthday because your ex boyfriend is jealous." 

"I'm sure he has moved on by now and I'm obligated to bring someone." I say sitting up on his lap

"If I leave, who will do my job?" He questions

"I'm sure they can find another doctor for a few days." I ran my hand through his hair.

"Not on such a short notice love." He says making me smile.

"I guess I can go a few days without seeing your face." I winked playfully

"It's gonna be hard, but you'll manage." He says resting his hand on my thigh.

"As long as you don't find someone to replace me while I'm gone." 

"I can't even if I tried." He kiss my forehead softly

"Good answer." I smiled

"It's the truth."

"We have a few hours before you have to take me to the airport, what do you wanna do to kill time?" I ask

"I've a few ideas as to what we can do but it's up to you." He answers with a small smirk

"What ideas do you-" He pressed his lips to mine softly cutting me off. After a few seconds he deepened the kiss causing me to wrap my arms around his waist. We made out for a few seconds before we pulled away to take a breath.

"Someone's excited." 

"I was hoping you wouldn't notice." He groaned but a small smile played on is lips.

"It's very hard to not actually."

"Sorry, I know what-"

"Don't apologize." I giggled

"You look frustrated." 

"Not really. I'm willing to wait until you're ready but maybe wear more clothes when we hang out." He sighs making me laugh

"I'm wearing shorts and a tank top." I pointed out

"Exactly. You need to wear baggy sweats." He smiles

"Fine. From now on I'll only wear sweats around you." I smile seeing him nodding in agreement.

"Even on date nights?" I question

"Those are the only exception." He says and I nodded smiling

"If  we have a date night when I get back you might just get an early acceptance." I say softly turning back to the TV. 

"I'm already planning one." He smiles showing off his pearly whites

"I have to be impressed."

"Haven't you always been." He says raising his eyebrow

"You are a hopeless romantic."

"I can't help it, Mama raised a gentleman." He says making a large smile appear on my face. Yes, she did. 

"This is going to be a long week." I sighed

"You'll be too busy having fun, so it'll go by fast." 

"I guess and I do miss them, so I'll be fine." 

"I'm going to miss you and Aiden too." I say pecking his lips

"We'll miss you too." He says. His eyes looked sad, worried or both. I hope it's not because I'll be around August.

"Don't worry too much, nothing's going to happen." I say and he nod kissing my temple then wrapping his hands around me again.

We stayed like that the rest of the night, watching movies and talking about whatever comes to mind until it was time to get ready to leave.

I'm so content with my life right now.
