Maya was in complete shock. This had to be a dream, it just had to be. She had accidentally just hurt Farkle using... Magic? So the kid wasn't kidding. Henry was right, there was magic. She had been so mad at Farkle. As the 5 of them were leaving Grannies, calling the people inside crazy, Farkle had whispered to her something about talking to Lucas and telling him how she felt about him. Annoyed, she ignored him. But he pressed on. Maya was extremely irritated. Why would he being this up now, of all times? He continued to tell her to talk to Lucas and finally, with all of her built up rage, she spun on him and shouted, "Shut up!!" But from her hand, or more specifically her friendship ring, shot a beam of power. Farkle had been blasted back, and now he was lying on the ground, blood pooling around his head where it had smacked the concrete. Lucas and Zay were frantically tending to their friend, but Riley had other plans. She marched over to Maya. "What on earth was that?!" She demanded. "I... I don't know! Farkle kept annoying me and then I got mad... And then bam! Pow! Boom! He's on the ground! I think it was..." She took a breath. This was gonna be hard. "... Magic. And I think it came from my ring." Riley looked confused, she looked at her own ring, identical to Mayas'.

"What's so special about that ring?" A voice said. Riley and Maya spun around to see Regina standing there. "It... It's our friendship ring." Riley said slowly. "May I see it? Both of them?" Regina questioned. The girls slipped them off and handed them to the woman. She inspected them closely before saying, "Sometimes, when an object is infused with enough love and meaning, it becomes magical. I believe that this is what happened to your rings. But now you see, magic is no joke. I saw the whole thing, and what you used my dear girl," she said, turning to Maya, "was dark magic. How did it feel?" Maya thought and then answered. "Liberating. It felt kind of free. But it wasn't worth it, I mean look. I hurt my best friend." Regina nodded. "You can control this. I know you can. It's hard, and I will help you if you want, both of you girls." With that she went back into the diner, only to brush past Emma and Henry who were walking out.

Emma was leaving, to go home or something, but as the walked past the kids, she stopped. She bent down, waved her hand above Farkle's bleeding head, and turned to Zay. "He's healed. I'd say he'll wake up in a couple of hours." Then, as she looked around, her eyes met and locked with Mayas. Emma looked at her and a wave of recognition came over her. Maya's eyes were terrifyingly similar to Killian's. Emma shook her head, brushing the thought aside. I'm probably imagining things, the blonde thought, I mean, I just lost him. Of corse I'm hallucinating. But the girl's deep blue eyes still tugged at her heart. Little did Emma know, she wasn't the only one who noticed the resemblance. Henry looked at his mother and said, "Uh mom? I think I wanna stay with Grandma and Grandpa tonight. Will you be okay on your own?" The boy asked his mother. Without a word, Emma gave a weak smile and walked away.

The second she was out of eye and ear shot, Henry pulled his backpack off, knelt to the ground, and started rifling through it. "Woah man," Zay said, still next to the unconscious Farkle, "What's the rush?"

"I have to find the-," He stopped mid-sentence and pulled out a large book, with a brown leather cover. "Once... Upon a time?" Riley read aloud. "Yep," Henry mumbled as he quickly flipped through the pages. And sure enough; there was a completely new story in it. Is was about Killian, and a young barmaid that had his child. A child he didn't even know existed. "Hey. Blondie-blue-eyes. Come here." Maya walked towards the boy cautiously. She didn't like taking orders, but she listened to him anyway. She felt nervous, like her whole world was shifting. For some odd reason every instinct she had was screaming at her to get as far away from that book as possible. But she continued to walk towards it. "The names Maya." She added as she knelt down beside him. "Yeah, I coulda told you that. And your full name is Maya Penelope Hart, I presume?" Mayas eyes widened, "How could you possibly know that?" She asked. Henry angled the book towards her. "Is this your mother?" He said as he showed her the picture of the young barmaid begging Cora to send her to a new land. Maya tried to speak, but she couldn't. Her words were caught in her throat. All she could do was stare at the illustration of her mother, young and alone, lost and scared, as she stroked the drawing of her mother's face. "Mom," she choked out.
