Shoving my brother in front of me, I push him through the cement-sealed door and shove him ahead of me, making him fall forward and land on his knees. He painfully looks back at me, like a wounded puppy with big dough eyes."Whats this game?" I say, not knowing what else to say, unfazed by his expression.
He looked hurt and stood up, ignoring my voice and looks around, "I dont know this one. Everything looks so... different."
"Different," I say with anger, " Different? What do you mean, different!"
"I mean, ever since I told you the truth, which I was never supposed to do, the map has changed."
"The map?"
"Yes, theres this whole entire map that the creator of this whole thing made out. It has all of the different games, and mazes, and much much more than you can think of in the control room. He has eyes and ears everywhere, with his cameras. Theres no escaping him."
"So he's got an entire map out of the games? Then how come you dont know this one?"
"I dont know... but this was definitely not in any of the drawings he showed me."
"He? You mean youve seen him?"
"Seen him? My god, weve basically become best friends. He was the only person Ive ever talked to besides myself in the last time Ive seen you and now."
"You know what he looks like then?" I say in awe.
"Yea, you dont know who he is? Not even after all this time you didnt know that it-"
All of a sudden a big alarm goes off, startling the both of us senseless. The alarm beeps every other second, blasting our ears with a loud annoying sound that makes our ears ring. Keeping my hands on my ears to protect them from the sounds, but my eyes fully on my brother waiting for him to finish what he was saying, run over towards him and pull him towards me.
I look around the cement walls that are up a sky scraper height and look for a way out of the game. Across the walkway, theres another cement door. I run, dragging my brother behind me towards the door and reach it within seconds. I clamp my hands around the handle and rip the door open, bring my brother and myself into the safe room inside.
A little out of breath, I rest myself on the floor to cool off for a couple of seconds before getting back up.
The room actually was attached to a hallway, which had seven doors; three on the right, three on the left, and one at the very end. Three had my name on it; the one on the right. And the other three on the left had my brother's. The one at the end, had no name.
"Well thats weird..." His voice fades towards mine.
"What part about this entire thing isnt weird." That silences him, "Anyways, where are we supposed to go first?" I awkwardly say, breaking the silence.
"Im guessing the door closest to us." He says, taking place in front of the first door towards the entrance with his name on it.
"Guess so." I say, worry taking over me as I brace outside the door, scared to know what was in it.
I turn back and look at my brother, who had his eyes fixed on me when I turned around. I look forward without a second thought, and push the door open. Darkness is the only thing I see as I step into the room, but when I close the door behind me the room lights up.
A mirror is in front of me, and surprisingly, no more cement shown to me besides the flooring. I walk towards the mirror, perplexed as what I was supposed to do or see in it, obviously besides myself.
I remember something that I once saw in a magazine, something about double sided mirrors. If you put your thumb onto the mirror, and theres a space between them then its a one sided mirror; meaning your the only person that can see yourself. But if you put your thumb onto the mirror and see no space in between them; theres something on the other side watching you.
I place my thumb onto the mirror, and just as I suspected there was no space in between the thumb. Feeling watched and filled with rage at the possibility of the person that put me and my friends in this place, without thinking twice about it I clash my fist into the mirror: shattering it and leaving my fist with tiny glass shards.
Wincing, I try and forget about the pain and realize that the mirror opened up into a maze of mirrors. This time above, beside, and under me. Both the ceiling and flooring, as well at the walls beside me are covered in crystal clear mirrors. This would be tough to try and navigate through, and the pain in my right fist wont help a bit.
Knowing a trick, the same I used in the other mirror, I place my glass-covered hand onto the right side of the mirror beside me and move forward. Scared of what I could find at any turn, from experience, I try and keep my eyes closed and let my hand lead the way.
I begin taking a faster pace, anxious to make it out of the mirror maze alive. I keep running into walls and tripping on god knows what, but my eyes remain closed; scared of what will happen or what I will see if I open them.
And then my heart stops cold, and a piercing mechanical like scream tears through the air, making the hair on the back of my neck stand up straight. I panic and full blown sprint, this time opening my eyes and running face first in to multitudes of myself but that didnt matter. The sounds that come from that god awful creature where the only thing keeping me running.
That, and my brothers still body on the floor at the end of the mirror hallway in front of me.
