Connor's POVWhere am I? I think, feeling a cold feeling against my skin. I raise my hand up and push myself off of the ground, realizing I was laying on cement. What is this place? I tell myself, looking around at the room I'm in.
Its cold in here, and I rake my hands up and down on my arms to create some heat. Theres absolutely no noise in the room, just dead silent being infiltrated by my hard breathing. I walk around the room, trying to get some feeling back into both of my legs. The room is easily lit, so I have no trouble seeing the door on the other side of where I'm standing.
I move closer to the door, feeling like someone is watching my every step as I walk closer to it. I place my hand on the door and give it a push, but it doesn't budge. Thinking it might be pull I pull towards me and it still wont move. Feeling like my leg was going numb I frantically look down and shake it, almost falling on my side. Damn, its cold in here. The door must be frozen, so how do I get out?
Looking around the room there seems to be nothing to offer me some type of a way out, just cement walls and flouring and a few light's above my head. Wait, the lights. Thats it, the lights! Feeling like I just made a break through I jump up and grab one of the lights, immediately being met by the burning feeling in the palm of my hand as I try and yank the lights down toward me. Knowing that I cant give up, I let it burn into my skin and keep pulling, trying to bring the thing down.
Finally, it releases and the lantern lit lightbulb comes with me to the floor. Out of breath and with a throbbing hand, I put the lantern down and start on the next one.
After all of the lights were taken down, I placed them around the door with the one hand that was slightly less burnt than the one of my right. Now, we wait. I say, and plop down on the wall next to the door and sit as close as I can to the light that is radiating heat right off of it. Knowing this would take hours, I begin to daydream and let the light do its job and protect me from the coldness inside the room.
After a while, I begin to feel sleepy and let my eyes close. I rest my head on the cold wall behind me and attempt to relax. And soon enough, I fall asleep feeling assured by the safety of the warmth the light gives me.
A couple hours later, I hear a large click beside me. I stand up, alarmed and realize the ice around the door must have melted while I was asleep. Cautiously, I move closer and closer to the door until I push on it, and the door cracks wide open.
I wish I never melted it open.
