Chapter 22

(Your PoV)

I was sitting on my bed reading a book called the History of Coat Hangers when SUDDENLY.....my leg was itchy. I sat there itching my leg for a bit when I heard the familiar do dum ding fong deng ching of my mobile phone ringtone. It took me a moment to realise that someone was actually calling me 'for the first time in forever', I got up and walked over to my desk (with that song from Frozen now stuck in my head) and looked at the screen. It read: incoming call from 'Kukai Souma'. I pressed the little green button with the telephone icon on it and held the phone up to my ear. 

"Hello?" I said into the phone a little awkwardly, now with Hello by Adele stuck in my head.

"Hey (y/n)! Guess what!" I heard Kukai's excited voice on the other end of the line. There seemed to be a lot of background noise and I suddenly felt curious as to why he was calling me.

"What?"

"Remember that park I met you at? Well, there holding like a mini festival-sorta-thing here! Free food and rides and everything!" He told me. 

"You had me at 'free food'." I said and hung up to the sound of Kukai laughing and a 'see you there'.

I was already pretty much dressed and looked good to go. I grabbed my purse and keys and slid down the stair banister rushing frantically to the front door. But when I opened it, there was a certain someone standing there just about to knock. Ikuto.

"Where are you off t-?" 

"Free food!" I blurted out. Before I could explain, I pushed the now dumbfounded Ikuto to the side, into a bush, and ran to the park. 

I was one block away from the park and I could already smell the heavenly aroma of the free food. I sprinted even faster and soon made it to the park.

Families and couples walked around, stopping at each of the mini stalls and eating the free food. There were surprisingly cool rides there too.

"(Y/n)!" 

I turned to see Kukai running towards me waving frantically. My eyes immediently focused on the boxes of food he was carrying in the other hand.

"The lines seemed to be getting pretty long, so I went ahead and got some stuff. Not all the food here is free, and the free food stalls are packed! So I just bought some stuff, I hope you like it." He grinned and handed me one of the boxes. 

We sat on a park bench, talking about random things and enjoying the food. I was smiling and laughing for a change, until I saw the dark blue-purple mop of hair in the crowd. 

'He's gonna get the wrong idea!' I mentally panicked. Ikuto would probably go nuts if he saw me with Kukai, even though he's only my friend. I grabbed Kukai's wrist, "let's walk around." I smiled, trying to act normal.

"(Y/n)?" 

I looked up and saw Ikuto. Although he'd said my name, his eyes were fixed entirely on Kukai. 

"Oh Shhhhhh.......sugar-coated peanuts...." I mumbled to myself.
