"We have the place surrounded. Come out with your hands up." The man who was leading the police spoke with a commanding tone, and had she been conscious, J would have known that, one way or another, she would be leaving that place in the next few minutes. However, she was not, and did not, so all worry was passed over to the little boy in front of the police car. Within seconds, a man wearing a mask holding a limp J by the neck appeared out of the window, pressing a gun to her temple.
"Come any closer, and I will shoot her."

Earlier, J predicted that this particular situation would happen, but unconscious, she was unable to witness it. She would either wake up in a hospital, or not at all. L had also predicted it, but at the time of it's happening was only partway through creating a strategy to deal with it. Another change in events that J had failed to notice due to her lack of consciousness was the change of the man holding her hostage. The original had escaped through a tunnel that J thought was known only to her that led into a forest. It would be virtually impossible to locate the man once he reached that area.

L also had not noticed the change in captor. Despite previous implications that the two have met, they have not. L had only heard about the vicious man through his parent's phone conversations, a member of a group of hired assassins that somehow evaded L's parents, who were also detectives- Don't look at me like that! Where else do you think he learnt from, other than his books, J and Watari. J, for you information, was mostly self-taught, so, in all honesty, she deserves more credit than she gets.

As I was saying, the gang of assassins had mostly evaded L's parents until a month prior to these events, when his family had managed to track down the hideout of the gang. Of course, L already had, but who would pay attention to an eight year old child. That was the mistake that could be attributed to the loss of their lives. Due to the unnecessary delay in finding them, two were able to escape, and ythey vowed to murder that family.

That is the danger that comes with my, his and her line of work. You are hated by the criminal communities, who want you dead. I seem to have strayed off topic again. You will be wanting to know J's current fate, and what happens to her. I will tell you that now, please, do not be so impatient. We will reach that soon.

"If you kill the girl, we will not hesitate to shoot." The policeman again spoke, threatening J's current captor, who appeared to be swearing at his now safe comrade. I can only guess he has realised his abandonment. Sensing he was at a dead end, the man raised his gun, and you can guess the next events.

J awoke in a hospital room with L and and an old man standing over her. "Hello again J, it is nice to see you awake again. I take it you remember what happened in your old house?" For a second, J was confused, then she remembered.
She
Remembered
Everything.
"So then. Did you catch him, kill him, or did he kill himself?" That was how it was with J. Not even a hint of the formalities most of the time.

"He killed himself when he realised that there was no escape." This time the old man spoke.

"And the other? I only spoke with one, but before you arrived, he let slip that
That there were more than one."

"Is that true, Lawrence, were there more than one?"
So, J thought, he told him his alias.
"We were confronted with only one, but I was told that two escaped out of the ten, yes."
"By whom, exactly?"
"I am unable to reveal that information for the present." So L still did not completely trust the man, who I assume you have already guessed to be Watari.

"Excuse me, but could I ask who you are?" So, J had spoken up, unable to deduce any information other than the fact that he was well off, had an interest in the case, and obviously, knew that L had been significant in the solving of the case. Again, J knew that L had been significant in solving as much as had been solved in this case due to his current presence as well as his deductive abilities, which she had witnessed earlier.
