Mariah was in her kitchen stirring her tea while Brenda sat beside her flipping through TV channels before settling on the news.

"So have you talked to Michael?" She asked.

Mariah nodded, not looking up from her mug. "I talked to him right before he left for Bangkok, he thanked me for the CD and we talked a little."

"Do you think this break up is permanent?" Brenda pressed.

Mariah sighed as she added some honey to her tea. "I really hope not. I don't even want to bring it up because of the other thing."

Brenda nodded, eyes still on the TV. "Yeah, you might not want to bring it up with that going on. He's coping well though, if I were in his shoes I'd snap."

Mariah nodded. "I don't know how he does it."

Singer Michael Jackson under investigation for child molestation.

Mariah dropped her mug, causing it to shatter on the floor, letting the piping hot tea scald her feet. She ignored it as she fixed her attention on the news reporter.

The pop sensation's homes have been searched by authorities for evidence that the superstar indeed is a child molester or the unfortunate victim of an extortion attempt as his team has proclaimed. Michael Jackson himself is out of the country on his sold-out Dangerous tour in Bangkok.

Brenda turned back to Mariah, who was shaking her head in horror. "Mariah?"

"I gotta go to Bangkok." Mariah said, not hearing her.

She ran to the phone and dialed the airport.

"Hello, JFK airport. Would you like to book a flight?"

Mariah took a deep breath. "Yes, I'd like to book the next flight to Bangkok for Carey."

"There are two flights going out today. One at five this afternoon and one at nine tonight."

"Can I have the one for five?"

"Of course. First class or coach?"

"First class."

"Full name?"

"Mariah Carey."

"Wait, the Mariah Carey that sings Dreamlover?"

Mariah rolled her eyes. "That's me."

"Oh my gosh. I'm sorry, so Ms. Carey you have booked a flight to Bangkok for five this afternoon, correct?"

"Yeah, that's right. Thank you."

"No problem."

Mariah hung up the phone and leaned against the wall. "Brenda, why him?"

Brenda shook her head. "I mean, if you really think about it I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. He's always around kids, that looks weird to people. I mean, since we know him personally it's just like 'Oh, Michael really loves kids' but on the outside looking in..."

Mariah shook her head. "I guess you're right, but it's just so wrong. How can they sleep at night?"

"Not everyone has a soul." Brenda pointed out.

"Unfortunately." Mariah glanced at the clock. "I need to pack."

"Why are you going to Bangkok?" She asked.

Mariah kept walking towards her room. "I'm going to see Michael."

Brenda grabbed her wrist. "How are you going to find him?"
