"Mariah, you want some champagne?" Tommy asked.
She shook her head. "No, thank you."
Tommy narrowed his eyes. "You're pregnant, aren't you?"
"What? No." She shook her head. "Why would you think that?"
She pulled her sweater closer around her to hide her stomach, though she wasn't showing yet.
Tommy poured her a glass of champagne. "Drink this."
She stared at the glass and then back at Tommy. If she didn't drink the alcohol, her secret would be out, but she couldn't hurt her child.
"I'm not thirsty." She said.
He pushed it closer. "It's New Years Eve."
She pushed it back. "I don't want any."
"Why? You love champagne, you drink like a fish." Tommy pointed out and pushed it back. "Here."
She picked up the glass and Tommy watched her intently as she swirled it around in the glass. "This is cheap champagne." She set it down. "Where'd you buy it, Walmart?"
"Well, I'm not going to drop $100 on one bottle." Tommy scoffed.
Mariah frowned. "I'm not drinking that cheap shit."
She got up from the table and hurried to the bedroom to take a deep breath.
Damn, that was close.
She needed to call Michael. She grabbed the phone and dialed the number to Neverland as quickly as possible. It rang three times before an answer.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Bill."
"Who is this?"
"Mariah"
Click.
She stared at the phone is shock. Bill had never hung up on her before, so she dialed the number again.
"Mariah, Michael has specifically requested that we don't take your calls."
She blew a breath out through her nose. "Bill, this is really important."
She could hear a voice in the background and she assumed it was Michael's.
"Who's that?"
"Mariah. She said-" Bill responded.
"I don't give a damn. Hang up and remind me to get that number changed."
"Mariah, I'm sorry but he doesn't want to talk to you."
Mariah folded her arms. "Fine. But tell him he'll regret it."
She slammed the phone down and opened the bedroom door where Tommy was standing with the other phone in his hand.
"Hey." She said, moving away from the door.
He stepped into the room. "So, care to explain why you're calling Michael and why he'll regret not taking your call?"
Mariah paused, she didn't know what to say. She had no plausible explanation that Tommy would believe.
"So, you sleep all day, you won't drink alcohol, and now you're calling Michael. You're pregnant, aren't you?"

Lisa was sitting on the couch as Michael paced the floor, fuming.
