Lovino sat in his office, staring out of the window. Why did he have to leave? Wondered the Italian with a sigh. It's been awhile since they had parted Lovino and Luca. They claimed that it would be only for a short time, but how long is short? 5 years; that's how long they were gone. Just because of that shitty mistake Lovino had done that messed their whole relationship up. Then again, Lovino thought, if I was in his position, I see why he got up and left. His green orbs started to spill over with tears, he wiped it off with his blazer sleeve, not caring if he dirtied it a bit. Fuck everything.

The funny thing is Lovino couldn't move on. His heart still belonged to them, and them alone; that will never change. Each day, it felt like the love he had for them grew; more than yesterday, less than tomorrow. The male got up and picked up a picture of his family; all of them, happy and together. Oh, how he wished he could go back in time and fix everything. He put the picture down and checked the time. "Oh, fuck, shit.." He rushed out the door.

Picking up Luca from school was one of the many joys Lovino enjoyed about his day; he got out of that godforsaken office which held... too many painful memories. He plugged in his earphones into his phone jack and pressed play on one of his favorite songs. Now this is the right way to pick up my son, thought the brunette as he walked down the streets. He never really liked to do too much exercise, but if it was for his little ball of - somewhat - sunshine, he would walk anywhere. The song was blasting in his ears interfering with the wondrous noises of the crazy rush hour home. Thank the heavens.

Nearing the pre-school, Lovino took out his earphones and cringed, all the parents were holed up in the entrance. Just peachy. "Luca!" Lovino called, looking around and tried to squeeze through people, trying to find his beloved son. "Luca where are you?"

"Right here, Papa!" Luca replied and took ahold of Lovino's larger hand. Once he found Luca, Lovino pulled him out of the crowded and loud pre-school. "What the hell's all that about?" The older Italian asked, his smile now replaced with a scowl. "We were talking about our parents and how they made us."

"Why were you guys on that topic?"

"Because Miss Elizabeta said that our famigila is important," Luca answered back, looking into his father's green eyes with his bright blue ones. It reminded Lovino of a certain someone he used to and still does, love. "Right you are, Luca." He ruffled Luca's brown hair. "Family is important. You must keep them safe and happy." The two started to walk back to their cozy apartment, Luca occasionally asking questions about irrelevant matters and Lovino answering back with a smile. Oh, how he wished a certain someone were there to assist him with Luca's never-ending questions; Lovino never knew parenting was hard alone.

Once they made it home, Luca tore off his jacket and handed it to Lovino to hang up in the closet. It was their normal routine, get home, take off their jackets and whatnot, and relax. "Papa?" Luca called as he took off his shoes. "Yeah?" Lovino made his way over to the kitchen, fixing his son an afterschool snack. "I was wondering. What was my daddy like? Was he cool like the other kids' daddies are?!"

Lovino chuckled and rolled his eyes. "You talk about him like I've never seen him before." He then walked through memory lane. "I guess you could say that he was caring and charming..." Lovino remembered the countless times they spent time together; he could remember every date they shared as if it happened just a couple minutes prior. "And annoying sometimes," He thought back to the times where the other made Lovino take them to a small carnival near the town; they had asked him to win them a stuffed dragon. "But, I loved him, and I still do."

"Daddy sounds funny." Luca laughed and took a bite of his tomato. He crawled onto the table so that he was somewhat at Lovino's eye level. "Was daddy a really pretty daddy like Uncle Feliciano?"

"He was the prettiest, yes." The older Italian sighed and began to daydream a bit. "He was pretty inside," Their personality was amazing, Lovino was thrilled that Luca had inherited most of their personality traits and not many of his. "and out." He then began to wash dishes that were left from this morning. "Everything about him was, well, beautiful." Luca finished his snack and walked over to Lovino, tugging on his pant leg. "Then why?"

"Why what?"

"Why did he leave you, papa?" Lovino froze and set the plate he was cleaning down before he smashed it. "Luca we're not discussing this right now." he smoothly replied. Knowing Luca, he would keep demanding and demanding until he got his answer; he was a very determined little rascal. I should really stop teaching him mafia tricks, Lovino thought with a sigh. "But Papa! I don't understand! Daddy couldn't have just left you for no reason!" The younger Italian huffed. "I mean, you didn't fuck anything up did you?"

"I'd rather not talk about this right now Luca, go to your room and start cleaning your room."

"But Papa!"

"Luca Austin Vargas. Room, clean, now." Luca huffed and got off the table, trudging over to his room. Well, this was going to be a long and difficult night. Today was not Lovino's day.

Once Lovino had successfully cleaned the kitchen, to an extent - he was still a lazy idiot, he slowly made his way over to Luca's room and knocked on the door. "Luca? Is your room cleaned?" He asked. Yeah, his love of his life may have left, but Lovino was set on taking good care of the house and their son until they returned. "Yeah." Was Luca's dull reply. "I'm sorry for getting a little angry there.."

"It's okay Papa.." Luca put down his action figures and went to go open the door for his Papa. "I didn't mean to be a pain by asking too much." Lovino shook his head and picked up his son. "How about I tell you a story?"

"About what?"

"About an epic love story that happened to your Daddy and I." Lovino made his way over to Luca's bed and carefully laid his son down, tucking him in. "You better get comfortable." Luca giggled and nodded, shuffling around in his bed before looking up at his Papa, silently telling him to start the story. Lovino pulled out the bean bag chair near Luca's bed and sat down. "Alright..."
