"Alfred and I were still close growing up, but whenever college hit, we kinda... Changed. He was more of a popular person with a bubbly personality whereas I was more of a hard-boiled egg who never usually cracks."

-

It surprised Lovino greatly that he and Alfred were able to go to the same college; he thought that Alfred was more suited for University but that damned blond believed University was too 'fancy' for him. Then again, in high school, they both vowed to make it into the same post-secondary school together. Stupid Alfred and not being able to break promises.

Study hall was one of the idiotic times where everything is awkward and people get away with texting their friends. The two childhood friends sat across each other studying for their respective classes. Lovino was studying to be an entrepreneur while Alfred studied Chemistry. The Italian thought it was slightly comical that Alfred was pretty popular, but at the same time remarkably intelligent; he broke the so-called stereotype. "You know, Lovi." Alfred broke the silence between them, looking up from his textbook. "We should do something tonight."

"Like what?" Lovino huffed and flipped through his stupid history textbook. "Go to the arcade again?"

"That or we could go to," Alfred took out an invitation that had his name written all fancy like the ones in the movies. "To the college party!" Lovino rolled his eyes and flopped back onto his chair. "Parties are tiring and stupid. You may like that type of shit, but I don't."

"C'mon Lovi! We were both invited." The blond took out another invite addressed to Lovino himself. "Just one night. 'Kay?"

"Fine, whatever. I'm only going because you're my friend and I don't want you to be alone."

"You know you're the best, right, Lovi?"

Both Lovino and Alfred were invited to a party, apparently the seniors wanted to throw one last amazing party before it was their time to graduate. Lovino sighed as he watched his best friend smile and laugh with other people. It was like he wasn't needed anymore; Alfred had gotten popular while he was here, still being an antisocial jerk. Making up his mind, he decided to get the hell out of the place to at least clear his jumbled mind, bumping into people on the way. "Hey, move the fuck over, asshat!" Lovino growled, tripping over someone. The person stopped his fall by wrapping their arms around Lovino. This is like one of those shitty romance movies Alfred likes to watch with me, thought the hot-headed Italian. "Sorry about that, amigo."

"Yeah sure." Lovino took one good look at the man. His green eyes rivaled Lovino's and his brown hair reminded him of milk chocolate. Lovino felt his heart race for some reason. "Could you not touch me?" The other man took his arms away from Lovino's waist. "I'm Tonio." The man, who Lovino now registered as Tonio, stuck out his hand to shake. "I'm Lovino." He introduced himself and shook the other's hand, feeling his stomach flip.

"So, how'd someone as nice as you end up in a party like this?" Tonio asked, guiding Lovino through the crowd. "My friend Alfred made me." The Italian replied, following Tonio surprisingly finding themselves outside. "Ah, Jones, the really popular kid. I see."

"Yeah, he said a party would be fun, but it's shit so far." Lovino leaned against the wall and looked up at the stars. "I don't know why I allowed him to bring me here."

"Maybe because you have feelings for him?" Tonio elbowed Lovino in the stomach lightly. "Normally, when someone likes someone, they do crazy things."

Lovino tsked and shook his head. "I'm not really all for that 'love' bullshit." he brought his gaze over to Tonio. "We're just childhood friends," he said quietly, his heart cracked for some unknown reason. "So, yeah."

Tonio laughed and leaned against the wall beside Lovino. "I see, well, why don't we just escape this stupid party together." Lovino felt himself smile a bit and nodded. "That sounds good."

"Great! 'Cause I know this really cool place where the stars look great during this time of night!" Lovino rolled his eyes. Well, this was going to be a long night, wasn't it?

-- Definitely, Maybe --

Tonio and Lovino ran to the football field, lying on the grass, talking about whatever came to mind. "Where are you from?" Lovino asked and gazed up at the night sky. It almost reminded him of the way Alfred's eyes lit up when he got excited. "I'm from Spain, how about you?"

"Italy, Southern Italy."

"Okay, my turn! So, why don't you think the idea of 'love' is bullshit?" Lovino laughed and rolled his eyes. "Because it's too much work; I don't like doing a lot of shit."

"That's so vague, Lovino." Tonio punched Lovino's arm. "Be more specific! Add more detail!"

"Fine! Geeze, so annoying.." Lovino sighed. "I don't like love because it sounds like a lot of work. You worry about someone, you have to make them happy, you have to take care of them... Stuff like that sounds like a lot of shit to do." Tonio sighed and shook his head. "You got a crazy idea of 'love', Lovino."

"Yeah, well, that's good because I'm not gunna fall in love with anybody." You say that, but just you wait. His mind huffed. "Never will. I don't even like kids."

"You say that, but I think you will." Tonio laughed and rolled onto his side so he could peer at Lovino's face. "Don't worry Lovino, it's only a matter of time before you fall in love with someone... Maybe you already met them."

"Yeah right!" Lovino scoffed and punched Tonio's arm. "The only people I know are you and Alfred."

"Hm," Tonio scratched his chin in thought and shrugged. Lovino huffed and rolled his eyes as Tonio continued. "Then, maybe you'll meet them in the future?"

"Shut up! Your stupidity is making my brain hurt."

"Oh really?" Tonio rolled his eyes, crossing his arms. "I'll have you know I am very smart. Ask anybody"

"In what? Stupid-ology?"

"No, cooking! I'll cook for you sometime." The Spaniard playfully punched Lovino in the arm. "Just you wait! Once you taste my cooking, you'll instantly fall in love!" He laughed. Lovino swore he felt something there. Oh, wait, no. That was his tummy growling. "Seems like someone's hungry!" Tonio teased and sat up. "I'll cook for you, c'mon! My dorm room's not too far from here!"

"Sounds like too much work!"

"Says the one who's hungry!" Which in turn, Lovino punched the guy in the stomach for, what he claims, being a huge bastard. He asked for it. The Italian felt his mind get all jumbly; it's possibly Tonio's stupidity getting to him. Nothing more, nothing less.
